The University of Washington School of Law is seeking a full time Web Content Strategist.

The Web Content Strategist, under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications, is responsible for producing content for the School of Law website, intranet, e-newsletters, social media outlets and other electronic communications to reach key school stakeholders and the legal community. The ideal candidate will recognize the importance of web content and realize that quality content (descriptions, pictures and graphics) is the single most important requirement to having a quality website and digital communications. The candidate also will have a good understanding of the elements that characterize great user experiences.

The ideal candidate should be flexible, quick-thinking, energetic, efficient, and able to work independently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must, as this position requires interacting with other staff and faculty throughout the school, as well as students, alumni and friends of the school.

Candidates should have demonstrated success in packaging stories, photos, audio and video from multiple sources. Candidates should enjoy innovating and be comfortable blending exclusive, original and aggregated material and user-generated content to create a compelling site that engages users and encourages repeat visits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Strategy and Editorial Management

Develop and implement content plans, consulting with MarCom colleagues and stakeholders that meet the needs of academic programs, clinics and centers.
Manage and maintain editorial calendars for the top-level pages of the law school site and social media properties
Use search engine optimization (SEO) guidelines and web analytics to inform decisions about content development and promotion
Plan and manage development of special web projects to support advertising and marketing efforts as well as special events and campaign/fundraising

Content Creation and Production

Write and edit website and other content as needed, including features, news items, faculty scholarship summaries, magazine pieces, etc.

Related Departmental Duties

Attend department meetings and functions
Execute reports and analyses on a regular basis to inform online strategy

Additional Duties as Assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Informatics, Business or related field AND 2 years’ related experience OR equivalent education/experience

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:
4-5 years’ experience in web content, program coordination, and/or marketing
Experience with and ability to use content management tools
Understanding of and experience with common web development tools
Demonstrated communications skills, including online editing and writing skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a diverse environment inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds
Strong interest in web-based communications and knowledge of web editing skills
Strong organizational skills, initiative, creativity and resourcefulness
Strong project management skills
Ability to perform as an effective team member while handling independent projects and responsibilities with minimal supervision
Demonstrated passion for creating a world-class user experience and have a desire to develop creative ideas, concepts, and new ways of doing things
Experience working in higher education
Expert knowledge of Associated Press (AP) Style
