This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, employment law compliance, and employee engagement activities.
Employ effective case management of people related issues such as: complex associate relations issues, progressive disciplinary process, legal issues (harassment, discrimination, leaves of absence, accommodations, etc.), policy interpretation and investigations in a manner consistent with Company policies, practices, and legal considerations.
Provide counsel and facilitate prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflict to address issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with Company policies, practices and legal considerations.
Maintain appropriate levels of discretion and confidentiality throughout conversations, investigations, records management, and other work.
Ensure that the Company operates within current and local employment law, policies and procedures, and best practices, to make the Company an employer of choice.
Act as a change agent on HR matters by continuously improving business processes and interpersonal interactions.
Champion and monitor associate engagement activities to include coordinating associate events; assist with enhancing and/or proposing new associate incentive and recognition programs.
Answer HR policy questions and counsel employees regarding Human Resources matters.
Support and develop policies and procedures to support and improve the Company's commitment to its associates, products, and community. Translate research findings into program and policy recommendations.
Analyze associate relations policy to remain competitive with local organizations, organizations in the automotive supplier industry, and other companies of similar size.
Coordinate associate communication efforts.
Assist associates with benefits issues and support administration of FMLA, STD, LTD, and LOA.
Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to associates and management (coaching, counseling, corrective action, etc.). Administer hourly performance evaluation process.
Perform data entry and analysis as required to support effective feedback and performance management.
Administer the internal job posting system by posting job notices; determine eligibility to apply, interview, and select successful candidates in cooperation with department managers and supervisors.
Recruit external non-exempt personnel as required. Support Corporate Employment Specialist initiatives to recruit exempt candidates.
Coordinate placement of contract and temporary workers to support operational needs by establishing relationships with employment agencies; place orders for temporary associates and maintain records to document temporary associate orders, performance, and cancellations. Analyze effectiveness.
Support hourly New Associate selection, testing, onboarding, orientation, and training programs.
Complete special projects and work with various managers and supervisors to improve the Company's working conditions and to promote the Company objective of positive employee relations. Assist in the ompany's strategic business planning process by performing labor costing and other budgeting/costing duties.
Support the Human Resources Manager as needed.
Further the goals and maintain a positive, professional image of the Human Resources Department by acting as a liaison between the HRD and other departments, vendors, outside agencies, and other Company locations.
Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources or related field and seven years of HR experience, or equivalent.
Experience conducting and managing complex and sensitive workplace complaints and investigations.
Experience recruiting non-exempt personnel.
Strong knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance.
Experience in a multi-shift manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP-based HRIS very helpful.
Flexibility in working hours as the role may involve occasional travel and shift work.
