The team - Health Care

Focuses on assisting those organizations that are responsible for the delivery, funding and payment management of health care and medical related services. Clients include hospitals, academic medical centers, health systems, home health agencies, long term care, outpatient facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, practitioners and physician groups as well as health plans, other health insurance companies, and pharmacy benefit managers. Also drives integration with government agencies.

Our Strategy practice brings together several key capabilities that will allow us to architect integrated programs that transform our clients’ businesses, including Corporate & Business Unit Strategy, Technology Strategy & Insights, Enterprise Model Design, Enterprise Cloud Strategy and Business Transformation.

Strategy professionals will serve as trusted advisors to our clients, working with them to make clear data-driven choices about where to play and how to win, in order to drive growth and enterprise value.

Strategy will help our clients:
Identify strategies for growth and value creation
Develop the appropriate business models, operating models, and capabilities to support their strategic vision
Maximize the ROI on technology investments and leverage technology and Cloud trends to architect future business strategies

Work you’ll do

Health Care engagement: Serve as the day-to-day team leader for staff and as the primary point of contact for the senior client and practice leadership. Lead a team in the development of the strategic approach to the design and implementation of the virtual health offering and in organizational change management. Design activities may include creating business cases to prioritize different virtual health use cases, facilitating the completion of a capability assessment, identifying client-specific technological needs, collaborating with key stakeholders on deployment plans, and determining how to effectively train and market the new offering. The implementation phase may include developing and executing clear plans for changes in the people, process, and technology to enable the offering.

Managers are professionals with strong records of academic and professional achievement who have the capacity and desire for continuous development and growth. Deloitte Consulting professionals must also be capable of working and communicating with people at all levels of an organization. Responsibilities typical of a manager on one of these projects could include:

Participate in setting engagement objectives and scope
Oversee work plans for multiple components of an engagement
Manage activities between work streams
Provide guidance to junior practitioners as they manage large, confidential and complex data sets
Conduct client interviews and facilitate client meetings
Develop process flows depicting pain points in the business process
Conduct detailed analyses to draw conclusions, and develop pertinent and insightful recommendations
Design and manage deliverable content to reflect the engagement contract
Present findings and recommendations to client leadership
Mentor and develop junior staff

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the health care industry (Provider and/or Plans sectors)
Experience working with virtual health operations including project implementation and/or operations management
Demonstrates consistent career progression with increasing levels of responsibility
Performed above expectations in previous professional roles
Competent in Microsoft suite of Business Software, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Willingness and ability to travel 80%
Must live within commuting distance to one of Deloitte’s consulting offices

Preferred:
Project management, including developing and managing a team, project plan, and budget
Experience in direct client service or in a client service capacity
Understanding of the health care landscape and of trends impacting health care providers, health plans, and customers
Experience working in health care IT, virtual health, and/or developing and implementing a virtual health program
Experience in management / oversight of new virtual health technology, hardware, and software
Clinical education and experience (e.g., physician, nurse), Excellent undergraduate academic record (GPA 3.5+)
Experience managing virtual health as an offering in a health care setting
Conducting and drawing insight from data analytics to inform business decisions
Knowledge of technology architecture and interoperability tools
Advanced degree in business or health care-related field (e.g., MHA, MBA) from a top tier program
5+ years of management consulting experience in a health care related field
Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional interpersonal, team-building and communication skills
Ability to build consensus and foster change in a client business setting
Tolerance for working in ambiguous, uncertain environments
Commitment to personal and professional growth
Sense of responsibility to self, team and client
Outstanding integrity, initiative, creativity, and passion
Experience leading or managing teams and change initiative
