Member Duties : Literacy Coaches serve in our partner community schools and/or after-schools programs under the direction of our Site Team Leader, Cluster Manager and classroom teacher (if applicable). They will provide reinforcement in skill areas such as: oral language, the five components of literacy (fluency, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, phonics, and comprehension), writing and dramatic play within the classroom. Literacy Coaches will be matched with students in groups of up to four students that meet on a routine basis. Through their bi-weekly academic mentoring sessions, the literacy coach and student (s) develop a meaningful relationship that supports the student's confidence and motivation as a student and a citizen of the community they live in.
