General Summary/Purpose

The Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion is committed to the development, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative and effective health promotion interventions that address key health issues. The Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion is seeking a full-time Research Data Analyst to manage new and ongoing research projects. The Research Data Analyst will be an integral part of the Lerner Center team, and will contribute to program development, implementation, and research dissemination for Lerner Center projects.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

The Research Data Analyst will oversee and manage research projects within the Lerner Center, as well as research pilot grants extended to faculty outside of the Center. The position will involve project management, as well as data collection, cleaning, management, and analysis. This includes the development and testing of data collection tools, recommendations as to appropriate evaluation measures, and managing the actual data. The Research Data Analyst will also assist in overall Center functions as needed.

The Research Data Analyst will: 1) serve as the project manager for research projects conducted within the Center, 2) supervise graduate students and part-time staff, as needed; 3) manage the day-to-day activities of Lerner Center quantitative research studies as needed, including preparing IRB documents and reports; 4) conduct and oversee data cleaning, entry, review, and management; 5) conduct basic data analysis, including linear and logistic regression; 6) prepare reports to funders; 7) assist in the development of data collection tools, such as surveys, tracking sheets, and observation checklists; and 6) help draft abstracts, manuscripts, and disseminate research findings to a primarily academic audience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
Three (3) years of related experience.

Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *

Preferred Qualifications

Masters’ degree in nutrition, epidemiology, public health, or related field and at least 1 year of experience coordinating research projects; and experience in quantitative data analysis.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Working knowledge of a statistical software package, such as SAS, STATA, or R
Strong ability to problem solve.
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
Must be self-directed with a team orientation.
Exceptional time management.
Travel and evening/weekend work required.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
