The City of Tacoma's Information Technology Department is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, and skilled IT Supervisor to lead the System Operations section of the Infrastructure Services and Operations Division.
Under the direction of the IT Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and motivating a team of senior level Systems Analysts responsible for enterprise hosting and administrative services, enterprise email communication, calendaring and directory search; enterprise back-end Oracle and SQL Server database management and administration services; secure enterprise fileserver and data storage related services; enterprise software distribution, mobile device management; commodity physical and virtual server management; Active Directory administration; virtual server infrastructure management; backup / disaster recovery and IT service management platform configuration and delivery.

An equivalent combination to: bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and three years of increasingly responsible experience in operations including one year experience providing work direction to others.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience leading IT Service Management working thru ITIL framework
Project Management training & experience
Prior experience leading or supervising an infrastructure or operations team
Successful Management of private/public/hybrid virtual environments
Must be able to pass background checks and maintain ongoing certification (CJIS/CIP)
Must be available to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Must carry a City-provided cellular phone or use personal cellular phone for contact purposes both during and after hours
Occasional travel (training, conferences, etc.)
Possess a valid Washington State Driver's license
Prior experience managing O365 tenants/Exchange Online/ITSM systems
ITIL v3 certification
Project Management (PMP) Certification
AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Experience

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and organizational skills relevant to the performance and execution of the following duties:
Responsible for 24/7 operations of IT systems and the team that supports that environment. Supervises the System Operations team and manages all aspects of the team's day to day IT operational activities, to include: Administration of Compute, Storage, Platform, and Software as a Service based environments.
Oversees the continuous and reliable delivery of services from application servers, web servers, database servers, hypervisor infrastructure as well as block and file storage.
Ensures proactive monitoring, maintenance and resource planning for technology systems, including firmware and operating systems updates and vulnerability patching.
Supervises the administration of Active Directory, Database Servers, BIG-IP, File Servers / SANs, Virtualization and O365 tenants.
Provides appropriate change control for all production systems and environments.
Monitors and coordinates work request assigned to team through the ITD ITSM system.
Ensures Service Level Agreement metrics are maintained; prioritizes and schedules activities to meet deadlines and assure necessary staff coverage. Leads efforts in establishing and maintaining operational support procedures and technology standards. Coordinates incident response, ITIL Problem management and root cause analysis efforts.
Coordinate multiple projects utilizing current project management tools and methodologies. Manage resources and work efforts efficiently, including non-direct reports such as contractors, other IT resources, and business department resources allocated to the project.
Researches new products and information technology innovations; prepare detailed bid specifications for product or service acquisition
Prepares detailed cost/budget analysis reports including cost estimates for user departments on projects or proposals.
Provides direct supervision for staff, communicating clear expectations, provides training, constructive feedback and recognition when appropriate.
Engages in career development discussions and ensures adequate training resources are available.
Develops standards, policies and procedures and effectively manages to achieve them.
Assigns work to staff; plan, prioritize and schedule activities to meet deadlines and assure necessary staff coverage.
Provides assistance, advice and recommendations to management and users to determine needs and provide information technology services
Maintains communication with users and other information technology staff, communicating problems with applications, schedules or other concerns
Plan, forecast, analyze and manage budgeted funds and utilization of resources. Suggest alternatives to improve performance and increase productivity and efficiency. Assist in formulating strategic plans, departmental policies, goals and performance standards; assure that operating policies and methods are consistently applied.
Maintains current knowledge, technical aptitude and operational proficiency required to guide, develop and lead the organizations IT operations.
Conducts and attends staff meetings and other meetings as required.
Provides general supervision to the unit/function assigned, ensuring the performance of all personnel, services and/or technology.
Conduct evaluations, assess skills and make recommendations on personnel issues such as hiring and discipline
Perform other related duties as assigned
