We are based in Norwood, Massachusetts, which is comfortably within the Boston metropolitan area. HMF's facilities include a state-of-the-art plant, and R&D facility, as well as warehouse and Corporate functions. We are focused on continued growth and are executing against various initiatives that include additional product lines, new sales channels, greater penetration of our extensive customer relationships, as well as opportunistic acquisitions. Our success is directly dependent on attracting and retaining the best possible talent across our functions. To this end, we are posting for a strong Associate Food Technologist.


The Associate Food Technologist focuses on the lab/plant execution of new pre-cooked, center-of-the plate entre items including the actualization of desired flavor, texture and appearance profiles within the cost and quality constraints provided. Project and product involvement will extend from formulation through production-floor test runs and final production start-up acceptance and ongoing manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the R& D Director, executes against new product and package design, formulation and development process.
Ensures product formulations, specifications and implementation meet corporate and client requirements relative to cost, quality and consistency.
Ensures new products and packaging are on time and executable.
Identifies opportunities to improve existing processes and packing methods, efficiency and productivity.
Assists Quality and Production Teams with resolution of process control and product quality opportunities.
Leverages involvement and technical expertise to improve facility health, safety and sanitation measures.
Contributes to overall facility regulatory compliance.
Performs other duties consistent with position.

Education and/or Experience

College Degree in related field, 0-2 years of prior experience in food formulation and food processing (meat focus desired).
Awareness of related packaging technologies.
Strong verbal and written English skills.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office'Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook

Work Environment

Able to move and carry test kitchen lab equipment, test batch ingredients; lift up to 30 lbs; must have good vision and sense of taste. This position requires the ability to withstand working in a cold environment for extended periods of time.
