Mantaline Corporation in Mantua, Ohio is an employee owned company that designs and manufactures polymer based extruded and molded sealing products. Sealing products include door seals, window seals, engine compartment seals, and auxiliary seals for the transportation industry (heavy truck, automotive, RV, rail, off-road) and general industrial use.

Mantaline offers a competitive health care package. Compensation will be a mix of salary and incentive income with incentive income becoming the dominate source in a short space of time.

Our commercial team is about to be expanded to include a Business Development Specialist who will report to the Manager of Business Development to affect the successful growth of existing customers as well as the identification of new opportunities. This new person will concentrate his/her efforts on the development of current accounts: securing new project participation from existing accounts (est. at 75% of time spent); and, the development new business opportunities (est. at 25% of time spent). This is an account management job with a new business acquisition component to it.

The incumbent be conversant in industrial sales and willing to learn about product design, polymeric materials and associated forming processes employed to create applications aimed at cost-effectively fulfilling customer sealing needs; whether they are appliance, automotive, truck, or general industrial oriented. Our Business Development Specialist will work with our engineers to drive solutions from concept through to production and be willing to develop the skills necessary to negotiate the commercial issues that are encountered so that we can successfully bring projects to production.

Our new Business Development Specialist will center their energies on a number of key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Consultwith customers on the most effective manner to approach rubber and thermoplastic sealing applications;
  • Coordinatea design effort when the customer is reliant on our engineering talent;
  • Filterand Focusthe team to the cultivation of promising opportunities;
  • Communicateand Developcustomer requirements so that applications can be quoted;
  • Negotiatecommercial issues to a satisfactory conclusion;
  • Understandboth the products and their potential usage then seek out and develop new and interesting applications;
  • Cultivatenew and exciting accounts and market segments;
  • Developand Maintaincommunication channels between the marketplace and the company;
  • Keepthe customer’s agenda in front of the management team;
  • Winnew business from existing and new customers.

This position requires the incumbent to travel to existing (and new) customer locations across the NAFTA panorama. In addition, hosting customer visits at our facilities is a natural extension of this person’s basic responsibilities.

We are a motivated team of individually accountable people working together in selected markets to deliver skillfully designed products to a very high quality customer base including such companies as Daimler, Kenworth and Peterbilt, GE, Aero Transportation, and Tier One Suppliers to Honda, GM, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, VW, Ford, FCA, Nissan, Mercedes, Subaru, and others.

Job Requirements: Business Development Specialist

Study the Job Description carefully; we put quite a bit of time in composing it. So, what kind of skill base is necessary to be able to do these tasks? We are looking for someone who has this in their background:

  • BS or BA in business or related technical discipline;
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of business acquisition experience;
  • Customer development experience in a “manufacturing industry” context;
  • Willingness to become conversant in product design experience;
  • Willingness to understand the polymer industry (rubber; thermoplastic);
  • Willingness to become proficient in project management experience;
  • Capability to present technical information;
  • Some experience in negotiating;
  • Ability to manage deadlines and targets;
  • Spanish language skills (a plus, not a requirement);

Territory: we are looking for a person who is willing to learn to work within the automotive supply community in Detroit and other NAFTA locations. The primary customer base are Tier #1 suppliers.

Compensation: salary for the first year; salary and performance incentives thereafter. This person will be a member of the company; we are Employee Owned. Expenses paid, leased car, other ‘tools of the trade’, an excellent benefit program.
