We seek a Sr. Product Manager to join a highly collaborative and fast-moving team who is passionate about building world-class digital content experiences for our learners and instructors. These high-profile initiatives demand a high degree of flexibility and willingness to workhands-on to achieve aggressive release targets with significant market and technological potential.

As a Sr. Product Manager, you will lead cross functional engineering team(s) to drive the delivery of new digital content / player experiences that our customers love. You will define & deliver solutions with a cross functional team of ux design and engineering partners. Strong collaboration, problem solving, customer focus, dependency management, and the ability to reach goals with minimal supervision are essential to thrive in this role.

High Level Responsibilities

+ Define, track, and guide the execution of the product roadmap in collaboration with a cross-functional team (e.g., User experience, Learning Design, Development, QA, etc.).

+ Create and manage the backlog(s), acting as a key product owner for the features and capabilities that you lead.

+ Specify functional requirements and acceptance criteria; craft other documents necessary for implementing the product roadmap.

+ Own relationships with partner product teams, including communicating requirements and addressing roadblocks.

+ Run acceptance testing processes to ensure that backlog artifacts are processed in near real time.

+ Demonstrate proposed ux designs & working software to a large audience of Pearson stakeholders and customers.

+ Identify and manage product dependencies within and across partner teams and the likely downstream impacts due to strategic and development decisions.

+ Effectively balance the needs of the business with the needs of technology. Collaborate closely with Pearson engineering and architecture to understand and raise trade-off decisions to be made in support of go to market delivery needs.

+ Work closely with engineering, architecture, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

+ As necessary, assist with beta and pilot programs for early-stage products and samples.

+ Contribute to defining processes.

+ Understand the Business: Has a good knowledge of Pearson’s digital courseware offerings and how it fits into the digital courseware landscape. Has good working knowledge of specific market opportunity or customer needs and expectations into product tool and component design. Consults with other stakeholders to assess options and determine the most efficient and cost-effective approach to building product capabilities.

+ Digital Change Maker: With minimal guidance is able to build and develop product capabilities with the customer experience in mind, based on inputs on customer intelligence from other stakeholders. Part of the team that investigates new approaches for product build based on examining new technology emerging in the market.

+ Efficacy: Accountable, with minimal guidance, for innovation within the product platform. Understands efficacy requirements and is able to embed efficacy capabilities when building functional product tools and components.

+ Collaboration: Acts as members of cross-functional product teams with minimal guidance. Provides input to the team on translating customer and technical requirements into well-engineered, tested and deployed product capabilities. Interfaces, with minimal guidance, with stakeholders to determine feasibility for functional capabilities to meet customer expectations and needs.

+ Direct to Consumer: Proven track record of defining and delivering direct to consumer mobile and/or web applications at scale, supporting 10s of thousands of products and millions of customers.

+ Transformer: Able to identify external or internal obstacles to product delivery or profitability and ensures that product teams work within parameters of budget.

+ Customer usage of delivered product / capability

+ Customer Net Promoter Scores (NPS) with delivered product

+ Development team velocity

+ Customer support incident volume

Expected Results:
+ Ensure seamless content experience for users in an environment where you have multiple teams contributing Web components to your app as well as code from multiple authoring tools.

+ Ability to identify gaps in solutions and drive resolution as well as ability to troubleshoot issues in a highly complex distributed system.

+ Passionate about- plus a deep understanding of - content creation including the tools to create it, the systems to deliver it and the apps to consume it.

+ Attention to detail in crafting deliverables, presenting and triaging issues.



+ A passion for delivering world-class digital education experiences

+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent (advanced degree preferred)

+ Minimum of 3-5 years agile software product management experience, SAFe methodology preferred

+ Demonstrated success contributing to the definition and building of excellent web-based products and/or native mobile apps

+ Experience working with multi-functional project teams and working cross-functionally

+ Able to deliver a compelling presentation in front of small groups

+ Ability to write a clear, concise technical document

+ Outstanding analytical skills and attention to detail

+ Highly collaborative nature to lead and thrive in team environments

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

+ Front End Web Technologies such as JavaScript, React, Node, Polymer

+ Image tools, formats, compression and delivery

+ Video formats, compression and streaming

+ Content Management and Publishing Systems

+ Experience developing new products in the education technology or digital media fields

+ Experience with JIRA
