This is anexciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Sourcing Manager, CorporateIron Casting Team. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.
Your impactwill happen in these and other ways, as an individual contributor:
+ Will be responsible formanaging regional Iron casting and machining suppliers and related KPIs.
+ Will be responsible forindependently managing supplier relationships and performance (Contractsnegotiations and maintenance, Cost Reduction, Material cost tracking, Free CashFlow, Quality, and Delivery).
+ Will be responsible forleading and supporting key global KPI/s for the team.
+ Demonstrated experiencein selecting, managing and/or maintaining casting and machining suppliers willbe preferable.
+ Demonstrated experiencewith core sourcing activities (Request for Quote, Quote analysis, Businessawards, and project execution) is preferable.
+ Procures specialized items andexecutes complex buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon materialbuying plans at the optimum cost, quality and relationship. Conducts complexanalysis of sourcing information and presents findings to purchasing and supplychain leadership for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaininghigh quality product and service delivery.
+ Independently procures inventory, supplies, and capital goodsand arranges timely deliveries.
+ Analyzes complex sourcing and purchasing initiatives andprocesses in support of the delivery of cost effective and high quality goodsand services.
+ Prepares and presents to senior purchasing/sourcingleadership recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative coursesof action.
+ Evaluates consistent application of sourcing procedures andprocesses.
+ Supports purchasing/sourcing management in activities such asprice benchmarking, vendor management, industry and market analysis, processanalysis, and model building.
+ Leads analysis projects/initiatives providing coaching toless experienced analysts.
+ Negotiates select contracts; develop effective relationshipswith vendors and suppliers favorable for company business.
+ Interviews sales representatives and vendors.
+ Consults with the Law Department to ensure legal complianceand mitigate risk for the Company.
Financial analysis - Appliesfinancial analysis as part of their work. Is able to perform complex analysis(i.e. multiple account or multiple business analysis; new product or newbusiness analysis, pricing analysis, statistical analysis) and is able toperform analysis in a wide range of work situations. Is able to interpret theresults of financial analysis, draw conclusions, provide guidance and influencedecisions. Identifies and leads analysis and is accountable for conclusions. Isable to train and coach others in financial analysis. Able to use advanced MSExcel functionality.
Manage execution - Demonstrated results indicating deepknowledge of managing execution. Coordinates performance across regions, teams,and departments on complex projects and work flows. Applies a broad range ofplanning and monitoring tools. Defines planning and review practices thatresult in few missed milestones and minimal surprises. Effectively delegates toensure completion of complex projects and work. Monitors progress of others andredirects efforts when goals change or are not met. Measures effectiveness ofexecution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring.
Sourcingprocess - I understand the steps in the sourcing process; I have developedrelationships with my functional stakeholders so that I am now sometimesinvolved in a project when a business need is identified. I understand thediscipline and process associated with industry, market and category analysis;I assimilate the available data to develop performance metrics and create a TCO(total cost of ownership) pricing model. I am capable of analyzing supplierfinancial risk, using standard resources (such as Dun & Bradstreet reportsand other similar tools). I fully engage my functional stakeholders to definethe business, technical and qualitative requirements and can accommodatedifferences in competencies and expectations so that supplier responses may beevaluated objectively.
Purchasing ethics - I understand appropriate andharmless supplier engagements and do not compromise supplier sourcing,selection, or management processes. I am able to apply judgment to potentiallyquestionable relationships and activities and am confident that I makeappropriate decisions in each case. I provide consultation / support thatconforms to Cummins standards to others in my area but am not knowledgeableoutside the countries in which I have worked for at least three years.
Supplier risk analysis - I am familiar with allelements of supplier risk and the tools used to identify and manage thoserisks. I routinely perform supplier risk analyses, including financial analysisas well as identifying potential supply chain disruptions. I can analyze thedata to make important business decisions. I also thoroughly understand therisks inherent in sharing intellectual property. I have implemented pricingstrategies to mitigate pricing volatility due to commodities, currency orinflation influences.
New Product Introduction- Understand the requirements of New ProductIntroduction as they impact my organization in planning, controlling andassuring product and process quality. (Note: Design for Six Sigma training is amethod for learning the tools used in VPI for deliverable achievement.
Supplier contract mgmt - Understand the elementsof a supply contracts and have used the contract to clarify the suppliersaccountability to the terms and conditions.
Materials agreement knowledge - I have completedat least one materials agreement based on a template provided with significantoversight by my functional director.
College,university, or equivalent degree in supply chain management or a relatedsubject required.
3 – 5 yearsof related work experience required

Base salaryrate commensurate with experience.
