Director of Electrical and Embedded Engineer Mission & Responsibilities
The Director of Electrical and Embedded Engineering will lead the team developing the embedded electronic systems that sense and control our robots. This person provides project management, team direction, and coordination with Mechanical Engineering and Controls teams in developing the embedded system architecture and requirements, evaluating and developing solutions for sensors, vision systems, motor control, internal communications, external interfaces and safety systems, and transforming product and subsystem requirements into manufacture-able electrical designs and embedded software.
Experience with technical project management, analog and digital electronic design, embedded software, motor control, digital communications, FMEA, Hazards analysis, regulatory compliance, and working with suppliers are important elements for a successful candidate.
Key Skills & Experience Required
MSEE or equivalent experience preferred
At least ten years of experience designing complex electromechanical products employing motors, servo systems, power supplies, sensors, digital communications and electrical interconnect systems
Embedded software experience with C/C++ very desirable
Knowledge of brushless DC motors and motor drive techniques very desirable
Thorough analytical approach to designing reliable embedded systems across component variation, environmental influences, and variability in product usage
Experience with regulatory testing, EMC compliance, product verification and validation
Project management experience
Proven track record of released products in the field
Proficiency with Pspice, Orcad, Pads, Altium, MS Office, Matlab or equivalent.
