Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative New Product Development Manager to lead our horticulture based product development initiatives. This role will be at the forefront of new genetic plant testing, ensuring that each developed line meets the Proven Winners standard. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture, strategic planning, project management, and have an understanding of research and development processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Become familiar with current and past plant varieties and programs
- Drive new product development within PVG to ensure fresh mix of new products seasonally
- Visit Breeders, breeding companies and off site trials
- Oversee and manage all indoor and outdoor variety trials at PVG
- Follow all Proven Winners trialing processes including scheduling, data collection, and data entry
- Participate in all Proven Winners Trial Manager conference calls and travel
- Identify and effectively communicate to PVG's R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Product Management teams any plants and/or programs that have potential for introduction in North America
- Work within the R&D department for more extensive production trialing of potential new plants
- Manage and oversee data collection and entry for all indoor and outdoor plant trials
- Manage and work with the Trials Coordinator to maintain an up to date R&D database
- Oversee and coordinate responsibilities between 2-5 team members (numbers vary based on season)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of horticulture, new product development, or horticulture research is preferred
- Strong, professional, and effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills
- Possess excellent organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Travel 25% - 35% to satellite growing facilities
