Purple Donkey Human Rescue is a 501(c)(3) Interactive donkey rescue and sanctuary . Our facility is located on an expanding 20-acre donated property, in Chester SC, part of the family owned and operated Cypress Farm Registered Miniature Donkeys. In addition to caring for animals in need, our mission is to connect individuals with themselves, others, and the natural world through the healing power of the world’s second oldest domesticated animal, the humble donkey. We do this through high quality educational and therapeutic equine activities and equine therapy through licensed therapists.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS A BARN MANAGER OR EQUINE SPECIALIST OR TRAINER. Please only apply if in addition to an equine background you have experience in at least some of the following:
Equine therapy, equine assisted services, non profit experience, an education background and or experience assisting with veterinary care. Candidates must have worked in these industries. A love for animals alone will not qualify a candidate for these position.
We are looking for THREE POSITIONS. TWO Barn Managers for Purple Donkey Human Rescue as well as Cypress Farm Registered Miniature Donkeys and an EQUINE SUPERVISOR to manage our EQUINE THERAPY PROGRAM. Barn Managers must have prior experience in this specific field and management experience. Equine Supervisors must be either certified through a program such as PATH or EAGALA or meet the criteria to do so. Candidates must enjoy working with people and be able to assist in the development and execution of public programming. Programming will be scheduled on weekends and this job will require a Friday through Monday or Thursday through Sunday schedule. Week days will require a minimum of a 5 hour commitment with flexibility and weekends will be full days. Candidates must be fit enough to handle animals and work outside in all weather and be exposed to dust and hay associated with farm activities.

```Duties```
-BARN MANAGERS: will run the operation of over 50 equine both rescue and registered animals. Managers must be capable of scheduling and managing volunteers and students schedules in the daily operation of the facility.
- EQUINE SUPERVISORS: Will assist in creating public programming for children and adults and work with animals, the public and licensed therapists after certification is complete.
-Safely run tours, classes and other equine programming
-Handle animals daily for training and assist mental health professionals if qualified
-Overseeing aspects of the barn operations
- Operate or Assist in the continued the health and well-being of all animals on the farm
- Maintain safety, cleanliness and organization around programing and daily barn work flow
- Performing feeding, grooming, and exercising animals as needed with the Barn Managers and the ability to teach and share these tasks and their purpose with volunteers and the public.
- Enforce safety protocols for staff and animals
```Helpful Skills```
- Experience with large animal care, particularly in equine management
- Experience with maintaining barn facilities
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with staff and the ability to successfully interact with the public is a plus for at least one of the positions available
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
