DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Director, Technical Communications, develop world-class design for a wide-variety of digital and hard-copy material from initial creation through to execution and delivery.
Correspond, coordinate, and follow-up directly with division and business leaders regarding design decisions.
Create graphic and visual materials to support social media engagements, presentations, conferences, business development, marketing, and other cross-company programs.
Engage directly with project managers and key stakeholders across the Company to accurately interpret and meet the needs of cross-functional teams in the development of visual communications materials.
Recognize the difference between internal stakeholders’ requirements vs. requests in order to offer relevant recommendations in the creation of materials.
Lead all aspects of assigned projects, including concept development, layout, mock-ups, retouching if needed, etc. and preparing files for various mediums – flexo, offset, digital and large format printing.
Display analytical and creative problem solving in the interpretation of project goals and translation of information into graphic and visual materials.
Prepare infographics and other visual elements to support website updates and assist in website maintenance through content management systems.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment against potentially aggressive timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to gain project background information and feedback; work independently to prepare rough drafts to present to appropriate internal stakeholders, obtain feedback, and adjust to gain full approval.
Adhere to all brand guidelines.
Create and maintain a well-organized library of photography and video files and all existing Intrexon assets using file-sharing software.
Keep up-to-date on design trends, visual styles, art and technological advances.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field(s).
Degree and/or experience in life sciences a plus.
3+ years graphic design experience in a design/ad agency or corporation with proven success.
Passion for and experience with typography, visual ideation and color theory.
Thorough knowledge of the process of creating and producing printed items, web and digital design and conversion optimization.
Expert in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite 5 or 6, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint in particular).
Proficiency with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro desirable.
Knowledge of other visual design and wire framing tools such as FreeHand, CorelDraw/PaintShop Pro desirable.
Experience with and understanding of how to use JavaScript and HTML5 desirable.
Experience with animation and/or video editing a plus.
Knowledge of Storyboarding, Photography, and 3D.
