Responsible for supervising volunteer workers and construction assistants on Habitat new construction and repair projects for Harvey-affected families. Will report directly to and coordinate closely with Construction Superintendent. RESIDENTIAL BUILDING SKILLS ARE REQUIRED. This is a position for someone who can build a house and show unskilled volunteers how to do so.
Responsibilities and Duties
Working closely with Construction Superintendent, plan & supervise construction of multiple single-family units and owner-occupied repair projects with a volunteer workforce. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Accurately assess scope of work, labor needs and material for projects.
Coordinating inspections with Construction Superintendent.
Coordinating material deliveries with Construction Superintendent.
Coordinating subcontractors with Construction Superintendent.
Efficient use and security of materials and tools.
Train and supervise volunteers at the construction site.
Supervise Construction Assistants.
Ensure that site safety procedures are followed.
Qualifications and Skills
Ability to take building project from start to finish while maximizing use of resources.
Able to work without close supervision but coordinate & communicate well with Construction Superintendent and subordinates.
General new home or repair construction skills, ability to work with diverse populations of varying skill levels, transportation and valid TDL. Three references required.
