The Senior Accountant reports to the Controller. In this role, you will assist the Controller with timely and accurate production of financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for the purpose of monitoring the results of operations and reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage, reconcile, and monitor accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Frequently review the accounting system (NetSuite) to ensure the proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping of company transactions are performed within the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Provide decision making information through accurate and timely reporting and analysis that is insightful and helpful to the management team and relevant stakeholders
Manage recognition and reconciliation of deferred revenue as part of month-end close activities in compliance with ASC 606. Review transactions for compliance and identify potential impacts on revenue and financial risk.
Conduct monthly review of deferred revenue schedules to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition.
Review and record monthly journal entries including prepaid, fixed assets, and accruals.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
Prepare commissions reports for the sales team and management.
Record commission expense in compliance with GAAP and ASC 606.
Maintain internal control safeguards for the recognition of revenue and costs including accruals, inventory adjustments, sales/property tax, returns/credit memos, etc.
Perform timely and accurate bank account reconciliations to include research and recording of any reconciling items.
Review gross profit each month to ensure that all costs and revenues have been recorded correctly.
Analytical review of balance sheet and documenting month-end income statement variances.
Provide answers to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Develop and implement improvements to the Company's current accounting procedures.
Safeguard the company's financial assets by ensuring that all company policies and procedures are followed.
Assist with audit requests, such as preparing supporting documentation and schedules
Evaluate various business transactions to determine the proper accounting treatment and suggest alternative strategies for structuring the transactions, if necessary.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably accounting, or related field of study
Three (3) years or more of proven experience in financial accounting and analysis.
Primarily must be able to work in front of a computer for prolonged periods of time. Other physical demands of the position include mobility throughout the day as needed to attend meetings.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required during evenings and weekend hours.
