We are seeking a creative, team-building Assistant Program Manager to help us craft the direction of the Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) System Security Engineering activities and resilient concepts in the digital domain. In addition to the FPS leadership roles and responsibilities as well as those for assistant program managers, you will be responsible for contributing to the vision, strategy and technical guidance of multiple projects. As the assistant program manager, you will help lead a hardworking team who engage in system security engineering, trade studies, requirements and architecture development, develop analysis and processes to incorporate SSE into Weapon System Engineering, and perform critical assessments and independent tests. The sponsors will depend on your vision and forward-thinking emphasis across the system and subsystem levels to revolutionize the way to secure national strategic weapon systems and provide the right level of survivability in the digital domain through resilient engineering. As the assistant program manager, you will assist in pushing the boundaries with innovative solutions at SSP and across the entire SSP organization. You will be involved with collaborating and coordinating across multiple APL domains as well as the U.S. submarine community and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications. You will assist in establishing and communicating standards for technical contributions and teamwork, provide technical direction, and ensure timeliness, quality and technical integrity of the work.
As Assistant Program Manager for Resilient Program and Systems you will need to:
Dedicate full time to this position as it is expected to lead and execute technical components of the portfolio as well as manage and mentor the technical staff contributing to the portfolio.
Reside in the Weapon System Engineering Group, KBV, and serve as a member of the Strategic Weapons System (SWS) – Engineering program area leadership team.
Assist sponsor leadership in developing roadmaps to transform system security engineering and develop a methodology to incorporate security and appropriate resilience into the digital domain into current and future programs.
Work with the Program Manager to establish a compelling vision for system security engineering transformation, evolve SSP thinking towards a resilience emphasis, and develop strategies for innovation and flexibility within SSP.
Collaborate with other programs within the SWS – Engineering program area and Strategic Deterrent Mission Area to maximize impact of tasking and efficient use of resources.
Encourage creative thinking on projects to provide the best product for the sponsors.
Actively engage in mentoring of staff and identify opportunities to stimulate and grow future program leaders.
Foster collaboration with line management to communicate program priorities, define task and resource plans, assess work progress, address emergent resourcing issues and resolve technical and programmatic risks.
Provide leadership and direction to the execution of ongoing work being performed by APL technical staff to ensure that sponsor requirements and APL commitments for deliverables are met.
Review APL technical products to ensure the consistent delivery of quality technical products.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
Have a B.S. degree in engineering or other meaningful technical field plus at least 5 years of experience in leading technical development activities.
Have familiarity with System Security Engineering principles and the policies and best practices to successfully communicate with SSP.
Have understanding and willingness to learn resilient engineering principles and apply them to weapon system engineering and strong system engineering activities within the portfolio.
Have at least two years of experience in project or program management with success in managing complex technical efforts.
Possess good analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills; good communicator and a collaborative leader.
Cultivate impactful relationships and work collaboratively within and across organizational boundaries.
Special Working Conditions include local travel for sponsor meetings and occasional trips for technical reviews
Top Secret Clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and are required to meet eligibility requirements for an SSBI and access to classified information. Preference for current SSBI. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.

Have a higher degree in engineering or cybersecurity fields with two or more years of experience applying these skills to embedded systems or weapon systems.
Have demonstrated success in mentoring or leading technical staff.
Advanced degree in engineering or equivalent. Exposure to digital engineering, model-based engineering and development programs.
