Internship Overview

Arms of Hope Family Outreach Center (in Dallas) are seeking smart, engaging, self-motivated and supportive persons to join our communities as interns. The intern opportunity will provide valuable life and work experiences under the supervision of the Director of Family Outreach. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting in ministry, organizing planning and executing group activities, clerical/case aide assistance with our clients and/or assisting with other social services programming. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, flexible work environment with plenty of opportunities for creativity. The internship requires a commitment that could last between 8-12 weeks with the potential of additional length of commitment.

Job Description

Expected to professionally complete work assignments, our intern will learn to work in a variety of ministry, business experiences and social work. Day to day tasks will vary greatly from volunteer groups, to food pantry assistance, to clerical work, community events/ assistance, working alongside community partners, to working with school aged children. Whatever the task, the intern will have an opportunity to make a significant difference to the entire community; residents, clients, volunteers and staff. Candidates must be a baptized believer in Jesus Christ, spiritually mature and solid in their faith; with an understanding of the importance of modeling strong values and moral character. The work is challenging but very rewarding.

Requested Skills and Experience

- Currently attending an accredited college or university

- Available flexible hours, minimum 20 hours per week

- Able to commit to the entire agreed upon internship term

Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously

- Able to complete all assignments made by supervisor

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Able to befriend youth but retain a position of authority to encourage personal growth

- Strong interpersonal skills

- Resourceful in gathering information

- Must have intermediate computer skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Able to work as a team but also independently

- High levels of enthusiasm, energy and initiative

- Other duties as assigned
