The Department of Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT) invites applications for an open rank, non-tenure track teaching faculty position starting in Fall 2018. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with background in mechatronics. The candidate is expected to have broad laboratory expertise in measurement techniques and instrumentation used in all areas of mechatronic systems. These include, but not limited, control aspects, math modelling, building test setups and doing the instrumentations as well as performing measurements. Duties will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing and publishing scholarly products, and advising students. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and dedication to advancing learning. Applicants must have Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering, or in a closely related technical field, specializing in mechatronics, or in some other specialty area within the discipline and demonstrated broad laboratory expertise in techniques and instrumentation used in all areas of mechanical engineering.

The College of Engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a public land grant university that enrolls almost 12,000 students. The College of Engineering, with over 1,800 students, has 5 Doctoral programs, 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio-, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET-accredited program Computer Science. The Mechanical Engineering Department has 18 full-time faculty members and offers BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees. The department enrolls over 200 undergraduate students, 22 masters and 33 doctoral students. The department currently offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Mechanical Engineering. The ME undergraduate degree program has an Aerospace Option for students who are interested in aerodynamics, aero-propulsion, avionics and aero-structures. An Honors program is available for those students with a strong academic background and research interest. Our faculty members and their graduate students perform research in such areas as materials, aerospace, structural health monitoring, thermal management, micro-mechanics and micro-fluidics, CFD, control systems, design and manufacturing.
