The General Utility position is an entry level plant position at the Verona plant. Employees are hired at this level with the understanding that they will receive additional training to be able to complete the tasks associated with the Load Technician position.
Performing and documenting workplace inspections as well as stationary and mobile equipment inspections as required.
Performing cleanup activities and maintaining a clean work environment in multiple areas, including stone handling systems, hydraulic and preheater systems, fuel handling systems, lime handling systems and loadout systems.
Maintaining the kiln operation in a safe and orderly manner to minimize risk of injury to people and damage to equipment.
Effectively communicating and convey information on the condition of equipment to the appropriate responsible person.
Performing minor repairs and adjustments safely and with proper training.
Creating work requests using computers and plant software as required for jobs in which their ability is exceeded
Operating mobile equipment including skid steer, fork lifts, highlift man baskets, front end loader, off road haul trucks. Using hand / power tools, and other equipment necessary to perform all job functions.
Work and coordinate with supervisors, team leaders, and engineers to strive for continuous improvement, safety, and operational efficiency of the Verona facility
High School diploma or equivalent
1 to 3 years of mining or manufacturing experience preferred
The individual must be capable of working under minimum supervision and be motivated to improve the production process through the use and application of preventative maintenance tools, practices, and technology.
Basic computer skills including MS Office
Basic troubleshooting and the ability to make small production repairs
Operate mobile equipment
Read and understand reference materials including manuals and drawings
