Position Purpose:

University Relations—composed of Development, Alumni Relations, University Marketing and Communications, and Events and Protocol—builds Santa Clara University's excellence and character by strengthening relations with alumni, parents, and friends of the University, raising public awareness, and increasing private philanthropy, which supports the University's growth and reputation.

The Campaign Manager plays a critical role in Santa Clara University's efforts to drive the success of the University's current and future fundraising campaigns. In furtherance of the University's integrated strategic plan, the Campaign Manager works closely with the Associate Vice President for Development and Campaigns (AVP) to plan, manage, and support the implementation of all aspects of Santa Clara University's comprehensive campaign, to build programs and operational structure to support future fundraising campaigns, and to help keep the campaign on schedule and progressing with a high level of visibility and momentum that engenders a sense of excitement, optimism and confidence in achieving the campaign goals.

The Campaign Manager provides a full-range of strategic, programmatic, and operational assistance to the AVP within University Relations. The Campaign Manager works with the AVP, various administrators, campaign volunteers, and various University Relations staff to provide leadership in formulating fundraising strategies, tracking, and reporting of campaign milestones to enhance communications, stewardship and donor relations, campaign events and promotions among prospective and enrolled students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni, donors, state and regional leadership, and the community at large. The Campaign Manager collaborates with University Marketing and Communications to implement campaign marketing and communications for the division and the campaign.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Co-facilitate and support strategic and operational campaign planning.
2. In collaboration with Development team leaders, manage and update strategies around key campaign donors and help monitor performance across frontline teams.
3. Provide support to Associate Vice President for Development and Campaigns in management of Campaign Cabinet volunteers. Help to coordinate the work of the volunteers, utilize their skills and talents well, and provide detailed follow-through.
4. Provide support for Campaign Cabinet meetings, sub-committees, project work, and all logistics and administration including scheduling, designing meeting agendas, drafting talking points, arranging for speakers, overseeing activities, and managing business meetings, events, and social outings. Record accurate meeting notes, assign and follow up on all action items.
5. Prepare routine campaign updates, included PowerPoint presentations, for delivery to University leadership such as Board of Trustees, Board of Regents, and Board of Fellows.
6. Directly present campaign updates to internal audiences across campus including academic leadership, staff leadership, and various committees and groups.
7. Coordinate with the University Marketing and Communication (UMC) regarding major campaign marketing projects and collateral. In concert with UMC, develop integrated marketing campaign strategies and activity plans for key programs that use channels effectively, including website updates and social media activity, to deliver campaign objectives and lead generative activity.
8. In collaboration with UMC and the AVP, manage project timelines, work flow and deadlines for campaign case statements.
9. Work with University Marketing and Communications staff to oversee campaign communications; create content, integrate campaign milestones into ongoing internal and external communications.
10. Maintain and update the internal campaign website with development resources, guidelines, and campaign content.
11. Coordinate with Donor Relations/Stewardship, Alumni Relations and University Events and Protocol around the campaign launch and other campaign engagement events.
12. Conduct research, assemble and analyze data to prepare reports and documents.
13. Interact closely with internal staff, senior administrators, including the President’s Office, and externally, regarding campaign items.
14. Organize and coordinate executive outreach and external relations efforts and oversee special projects.
15. Support the Associate Vice President for Development and Campaigns in project management and prepare University Relations updates for various board meetings.
16. Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously and proactively and follow through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
17. In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services, support campaign forecasting and tracking.
18. Using the University’s donor CRM database and other tools, run reports and create briefing information; process updates.
19. Serve as a liaison for third-party firms, including but not restricted to our contracted marketing firms, and event planning firms.
20. Provide project management for various internal and external committee and board meetings.
21. Manage campaign budget and expenses for various events.
22. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands:
1. Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal.

2. May be required to travel to other buildings on the campus.

3. May be required to attend conference and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.

5. May at times require physical labor.

Knowledge:
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of fundraising and donor relations concepts, principles, procedures and techniques. Specific knowledge regarding fundraising campaigns is preferred.
  • Proven experience using technology to display data and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of ethical and fiscally-sound budget management practices.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the mission of Santa Clara University and the vision and values of a Jesuit Catholic educational institution.
Skills:
  • Must be a goal-oriented and exceedingly well-organized individual who can demonstrate accountability, initiative, creativity and focus in a rapidly changing and intellectually stimulating environment.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and editing skills and an ability to synthesize information and compose clear and effective prose. Strong writing and editing experience, preferably demonstrated in an academic setting.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, patience, persistence, enthusiasm, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, board members, external partners and donors.
  • Expert planning, coordination and organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Skilled in utilizing complex databases, with a preference for experience with CRMs or fundraising databases.
  • Excellent technology skills; expert use of advanced functions of MS Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, along with proficient utilization of online resources.

  • Strong attention to detail.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Four to six years of professional experience; experience within higher education preferred.
  • Direct experience within development or advancement programs preferred.
  • Proven successful project management, with preference for project management within and across a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior level leadership.
Salary Information: $3,145 - $3,697.50 semi-monthly
