Community Program Coordinator

East Shore Industries, Inc. - Algoma, WI


Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30-3:00pm

Reports To: Director of Case Management/Program Director

Salary and Benefits: Pay is based on experience and East Shore provides a full benefit package including paid time off, retirement, short term and long term disability, life insurance and health insurance.


You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing community-based day service and work skills programs for adults with disabilities.


As a community program coordinator, you will be expected to:

  • Develop community integrated programs for specific groups of individuals aimed at helping them become more involved and comfortable in their community
  • Initiate and develop connections to local community resources to help create diverse and beneficial program options.
  • Create specific program elements for groups of adults as necessary based on their needs and interests.
  • Provide a variety of soft skills instruction to a small group of individuals in a community setting.
  • Engage and lead a small group of individuals in community-based activities that meet the needs and interests of those individuals.
  • Safely and confidently transport a small group of individuals to community locations with an East Shore van.

As part of the East Shore team you are expected to:

  • Work as a team with case managers and the Director of the department as well as with the Program Director and management staff to help ESI create a cohesive and positive environment that encourages participation by all staff and the success of the individuals seeking service.
  • Effectively communicate concerns and suggestions to your supervisor.


Must be:

  • A good communicator in a variety of settings.
  • Able to confidently and effectively speak with community leaders, community partners, ESI team members and care team members for the individuals requesting services.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team giving feedback to other staff as needed.
  • Able to present ideas and answer questions to small groups of individuals.
  • Able to write effectively and use a computer proficiently including the use of Office suite of products.
  • A self-starter who uses time effectively and is motivated to help individuals with diverse abilities improve their independence and community relationships.

A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required to transport individuals with East Shore Industries vehicles to programming activities in the community.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma and experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, policy and procedural manuals, short correspondence, state regulations, confidentiality regulations, and memos. Ability to write simple to complex correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, client families, other professionals, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read, appropriately apply, analyze, interpret common documents as they relate to clients, case management and the broad field of rehabilitation. Ability to communicate in a positive, cooperative, proactive, effective manner with clients, and other team members.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations. Ability to deal with a variety of people with many different and sometimes demanding points of view.
