The Medical Transcriptionist ensures the accuracy of all patient dictations, transcriptions of initial evaluations, progress notes, and completion letters. The position collects all dictated tapes as required and complies with established procedures for dispatching finished reports. The Medical Transcriptionist performs related clerical duties and maintains office equipment and supplies in support of departmental objectives.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Specialized training required, including medical terminology.
EXPERIENCE: Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and good command of English required. 1-3 years medical transcription experience preferred.
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
