Full Job Description
Lead the development of the customer research function at Big Lots. Monitor the health of the brand. Work cross-functionally with Brand Strategy, Marketing, Store Operations, and Merchandising to develop actionable customer insights and innovations. Utilize a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and a growth mindset to leverage insights to drive the business.
1.Lead the customer learning agenda including execution, coordination, analysis and communication of customer research and brand health insights.
2.Partner with Marketing, Strategy, Creative, Store Operations, Merchandising, and Ecommerce teams to understand key business questions and priorities.
3.Establish, track, and report brand health metrics across a competitive set and by customer segment.
4.Manage an online customer panel in partnership with agency to provide insights on marketing, products, and brand.
5.Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify insights, develop actionable recommendations, and socialize with cross-functional partners.
6.Drive customer research and insight innovations including new tools, methodologies, and partners.
7.Manage relationships with outside agencies supporting our research plan, questionnaire development, analysis, and reporting.
8.Consult with CRM Analytics team to develop comprehensive insights leveraging customer data where applicable.
9.Demonstrate a competency for insight-driven decision making and recommendations.
10.Develop a deep understanding of the Big Lots Customer and how to action learnings across functional areas.
11.Present insights and recommendations to cross-functional partners and leadership.
1.Bachelor's degree in Marketing or research discipline required. Master's degree preferred.
2.Minimum of 5 years of experience in customer research required.
3.Demonstrated ability in qualitative and quantitative research approaches including surveys, brand health tracking, syndicated data, online panels, and focus groups required.
4.Multi-channel retail experience preferred.
5.Proven experience in building effective teams and cross-functional relationships required.
6.Excellent communication and presentation skills, including storytelling preferred.
7.Demonstrated ability to write and articulate objectives, strategies, tactics and action-oriented insights to leadership teams required.
8.Demonstrated ability to create and present clear and actionable recommendations required.
9.Must be a decisive, action-oriented individual with experience influencing and leading others.
10.Experience in establishing effective processes and prioritizing across projects in a fast-paced, complex environment preferred.
11.Must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
12.Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office programs.
