CommunityHealth seeks to hire a full-time Human Resources Generalist (HR Generalist) who will serve as the lead resource for effectively onboarding and offboarding staff; administering pay, benefits, and leave; identifying and implementing HR best practices to support staff throughout their tenure; managing HR compliance and reporting requirements; and advising senior staff on HR matters. The HR Generalist provides support to employees in various HR-related topics and guides resolution of any issues that arise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Organizational Development
- Identifies, monitors, and promotes the company’s culture in support of the company’s strategic initiatives and promotes employee satisfaction; continue work to raise cultural competency of the organization
- Keeps the Director of Finance and Administration informed of significant obstacles that jeopardize the achievement of company goals and other issues that are not being addressed adequately at the management level
Hiring and Onboarding
- Assist with recruiting or coordinating with outsourced recruiters; facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
- Support managers through the hiring and review process
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Implements new hire orientation and sets schedule
- Implement framework for integrating new employees (such as administering onboarding surveys, assisting Office Manager with technology needs)
- Ensure all new hires understand how they will be reviewed; how CommunityHealth’s compensation and rewards plan works
Terminations and Offboarding
- Facilitate exit interviews and share relevant information learned
- Provide information to staff for COBRA qualifications, where applicable
- Coordinate with Office Manager and others to ensure all steps in process are followed in a transition
Employee Benefits
- Oversee benefits administration
- Supervise open enrollment process
- Manage 403(b) plan and provide necessary compliance data to third party administrator
- Accurately track and maintain PTO and other non-work-related hours
Employee Review Process
- Facilitate implementation of review system and aid in review process
- Communicate process to employees at hiring and across time
- Provide advice and service to management on employee relations and performance management
Employee Self-Care / Wellness
Initiates ideas pertaining to the promotion of wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture communications organized as follows:
- Run committee of team members to inform full calendar of employee activities
- Coordinate with various internal/external resources to arrange for Employee Self-Care activities (Office Manager will support the logistics of events driven by the Employee Self-Care Calendar – food ordering; venues; etc)
- Publish annual calendar of events covering social / community / wellness aspects of employees to include social events with employees and All-Staff training on various topics
- Affirm or assist with design and implementation of Employee Recognition program; communicate program to existing and new employees and to existing employees across time
Ongoing
- Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
- Complete and prepare all regulatory questionnaires, reports and surveys related to HR
- Prepare ad-hoc management reports
- Administer HR policies and procedures; assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; maintain employee handbook and other codes of conduct as necessary. Recommend new approaches for continual improvements.
- HR System Implementation and Administration
- Address employee questions regarding HR policies such as leaves and vacation
- Maintain high-level awareness of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees. Build a network of peers across healthcare industries. Join professional groups organizations and play an active role in them.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- BS/BA in human resources, administration or other similar business-related field or an equivalent amount of experience and training
- Three years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Able to remain tolerant to stress
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTED HOURS
- Remain stationary for reasonable periods of time typing and/or reading at a computer
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time
- Normal bending, reaching, moving around and stretching in an office setting
- Full-time position, five days per week. Some evenings may be needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.03 - $23.08 per hour
