The Health System's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Medical Office Assistant II – Whole Person Care – Extra Help. Medical Office Assistants, under general supervision, provide a variety of routine to difficult medical office support to a variety of County outpatient, ancillary, medical records and other direct patient care areas, which may include patient scheduling and intake, reception, typing, word processing and patient recordkeeping, filing; and perform related duties as assigned.

The current vacancy is an extra help position within the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division for a short-term assignment estimated for 3 months, but could potentially be extended based on project.

Primary responsibilities:
Support the Whole Person Care Pilot through migrating client data from MS Excel and Word to an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Perform client registration into program(s); update client status when no longer in programs in the EHR.
Analyze and filter progress notes to ensure appropriate for inclusion in the EHR.
Work with supervisor to develop documentation policies and procedures.
Assist supervisor with projects as needed.
Coordinate and schedule meetings as needed.

The ideal candidate will possess:
Previous office support and/or administrative support experience; working in a medical/health setting preferred.
Initiative and sound independent judgment to within established guidelines.
Demonstrated experience working independently; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn new computer programs; experience in Avatar or other electronic health/medical record application preferred.
Ability to professionally communicate clearly both in oral communication and written communication.
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.
