Throughout the past several years, Germer International has placed great emphasis and focus on Analytical QC & R&D searches for our clients who continuously have a dire need for Quality-oriented Analytical Chemists and Scientists to join their Analytical team. One of our clients (located in the Midwest), a highly innovative organization who has successfully established themselves in both the small molecule pharmaceutical industry as well as fine chemical manufacturing industry, is currently in need to fill several Analytical positions (at various levels -- Jr. to Sr. level) with qualified candidates who are familiar with all instrumental and wet methods of analysis utilizing HPLC and GC instruments. Solid knowledge of HPLC method development and validation skills is an absolute requirement. Clear understanding of cGMP and ICH guidelines is important, as well. The ideal candidate should have GC expertise and good understanding of its principles (though this may be substituted with hands-on experience and strong working knowledge of PSD, XRPD, LC-MS, or NMR (H,13C). He/she should also be customer-oriented and hold some level of project management skills.

Although the opportunities may vary, the responsibilities are equally centered around the following:

  • Performing analytical chemistry assays based on new and existing methodologies
  • Operating analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, GC/MS, FTIR, Titrator, Particle Size Analyzer
  • Developing, establishing, and validating analytical testing methodology used to control raw materials, production intermediates, and final products
  • Writing technical reports to document analytical methods
  • Transferring documented analytical methods to the QC department
  • Setting up new or existing analytical methods for identifying compounds
  • Performing thermal hazards testing
  • Coordinating off-site testing as necessary
  • Conducting testing of analytical samples for the Chemical Department

Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum BS degree in Chemistry required, advanced Chemistry degree beneficial
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing support laboratory, with pharmaceutical experience required
  • Experience with dissolution and chemosensory testing highly desired
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements within cGMP, safety and regulatory environments
  • Operational knowledge of analytical instrumentation like HPLC, GC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV-VIS

equipment, and data stations required

  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, structural drawings, and databases preferably in a Windows environment
  • The ability to solve extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables
