The Policy Effectiveness and Assessment (PEA) section conducts economic analysis and research to inform policymakers and the public of findings, and to help shape the division’s policy agenda. The section's mission is to:
- Conduct economic assessments of the impact and effectiveness of regulatory policy.
- Provide input into the policymaking process and help ensure that policy design choices are well-informed by data-based economic analyses.
- Carry out research into the economics of banking and financial regulations.
Through this work, the PEA section enhances the design and implementation of rules and regulations by the Division of Supervision and Regulation, thus helping advance the Board's micro- and macro-prudential mandates.
The intern will work on various data collections from supervised banks and on other financial datasets. They may access databases using SQL, update or create new data quality rules, and test various data processes. The interns may also develop new processes for analyzing financial data, document processes for the data, or otherwise analyze data under the direction of permanent staff. Programming skills in SQL, R, or Python are desired.
