This is a new position created to increase sales through advanced marketing and merchandising efforts in both the online and offline space. The individual in this position is expected to participate in setting strategic direction; developing initiatives; ensuring execution; identifying, locating and managing needed resources; hiring, motivating and disciplining staff; measuring and achieving profitable results.

This is senior level position responsible for all marketing efforts. The majority of these efforts will be directed toward optimizing online performance but will also include all offline activities. In addition to overseeing an internal staff of two, this role oversees a large number of external resources – agencies, photographers, videographers, etc. A key goal is to move from a staff of 2 to 4 by 6/30/19 and reduce our dependence on outside agencies.

This position requires very strong project management skills, a consistently positive attitude, and the ability to work closely with IT, Sales, Operations and Finance. Reports to the President.

Who we are: Since 1957, Fibre Glast Developments has specialized in private label distribution of fiberglass and composite materials. Originally a store in north Dayton, Fibre Glast has evolved into the dominant online provider of hundreds of materials and supplies to professional fabricators, mold builders and repair facilities. Our customers include professional racing teams, aerospace, government, movie studios, universities and many more industries in over 50 countries.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have proven eCommerce and project management experience in a product (not service) environment. He or she will have demonstrated capabilities in developing strategy as well as personally executing the strategy. There will be natural curiosity and demonstrated capability in the areas of web sales strategy and tactics with an interest in communicating about composite materials for audiences in racing, aviation and a wide variety of industries.

Purpose: This position is created to increase sales through effective strategy, tactics, plans and execution. This position is a combination of strategic executive, manager and hands-on participant in a wide variety of duties. Effective project planning, project management and results evaluation is critical. The Marketing and Merchandising Manager is responsible for optimizing current initiatives, creating new ones and being aware of changes in the online world that ensure a customer experience of a leading online retailer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all employees, contractors and freelancers involved in front-end web development. Planning projects, setting deadlines and holding parties accountable for timely deliverables. Manage testing of front-end changes prior to launch.
  • Optimizing conversion rate, AOV and traffic through split testing, page performance evaluation and product positioning. Overseeing testing strategies to ensure optimal performance of all campaigns and channels.
  • Develop, optimize and measure engagement strategies including: Send us your Photos, Send us your Videos, featured customers, Photo Gallery, social and referral efforts.
  • Oversee all online promotional efforts including SEO, Email, Paid Search, ThomasNet, Third Party Channels, etc. Support offline efforts of same – order inserts, voice mail scripts, etc. Launch new initiatives. Monitor mentions of our brand as well as our competitors.
  • Manage all creative – internally created as well as provide by agencies incorporating brand management, graphic design, photo libraries, photographers, videographers, etc.
  • Merchandising – optimizing product sales through positioning strategies, copy and photos.
  • Overseeing new product launches – ensuring documents are created, copy written, photos, web placement and execution of promotional strategies to ensure success. Continuous improvement in product and Learning Center content including both copy and video centered efforts.
  • Manage offline marketing efforts including publication of our annual catalog, trade shows and advertising. Offline marketing is currently less emphasized than online marketing.
  • Oversee data hygiene and segmentation strategies.
  • Continually proactive team player determined to learn all aspects of our products, other choices in the market, the factors that define value for our customers and the nuances of our business model

Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in Ecommerce, business, marketing, computer science or another related field preferred.
  • Five or more years working with a content management system in an Ecommerce retail environment
  • Strong hands-on ability to extract information from Google Analytics, Listrak and SEM Rush (or similar tool) for evaluating email, SEO and PPC performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills as online algorithms and opportunities require.
  • 5 years project management or technical lead experience including building timelines, projecting costs and results, setting schedules and meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive and results-oriented performer who can visualize plans, execute strategy and attend to detail.
  • Process improvement experience and mindset.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to do what it takes to achieve results
  • Enjoys multi-tasking and balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work for any US employer without visa sponsorship.

Location and work hours: We are in Brookville, Ohio near Dayton. This position requires daily office arrival and general work hours of 8 – 5 Mon – Fri.

Physical Requirements: This position requires extensive sitting and computer use. Occasional events such as photo or video shoots require the ability to stand for extended periods
