Advocate Program, Inc. is a multi-faceted commtmity agency whose mission is to facilitate social change and enhance public safety through leadership, research, education, supervision, and services, utilizing best and evidence-based practices.
The Advocate Program, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit, 501 c (3) justice agency that offers probation, diversion, community service, DUI and traffic programs, domestic violence programs, substance abuse and mental health evaluations and treatment to court-ordered individuals. It has expanded to work with juveniles and families in the juvenile justice field, families impacted by family conflict and violence, and homeless veterans and their families.
Job Purpose:
The purpose is to assist the judicial system in the monitoring of conditions dictated in court by the SAO in correlation to the charge and assure that defendant meets these conditions successfully . This will alleviate cases flowing thru the criminal justice system and prevent the defendants from becoming recidivism cases within the criminal justice system.
Responsibilities:
- Perform intakes on community Service clients and session only clients.
- Supervise open caseload
- Instruct client on what is needed to satisfy their requirements to successfully complete the program.
- Provide clients with the proper pape1work and assist them in filling out the forms.
- Maintain file for each client, to include daily reviews and updates.
- Refer clients to Social Services department as necessary.
- Administer drug testing as required.
- File affidavits.
- Attend court as needed.
- Miscellaneous duties as determined by supervisor
Skills/Qualifications:
- Computer Skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Administer drug testing as needed. Testifying may be required on (+) drug testing.
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Candidates should be creative, highly motivated, and able to thrive under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to function in a fast paced team environment
- Candidates must possess a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or related field or a high school diploma with over 5 years work experience in a criminal justice setting.
