Behavioral Health Addiction Urgent Care (BHAUC) is a center for individuals suffering from substance use disorder and mental illness. The program is a gateway to getting clients in needed treatment for addiction and/or mental crisis by providing an evaluation, bed search and support from our team. As Crisis Specialist in Behavioral Health Addiction Urgent Care you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess needs and determine level of care for individuals seeking addiction services. Assisting clients will eliminate obstacles that prevent treatment and advocate for placement when needed. Residential Counselors support clients by helping them navigate through admissions into Community Healthlink’s Substance Abuse Continuum or elsewhere throughout the state.

Receive and respond to telephone calls regarding emergency and non-emergency substance use and mental health crisis and direct clients to the appropriate level of care.
Performs telephonic interventions which include, but are not limited to, crisis support and de-escalation of individuals in crisis.
Relay information/messages to and from Urgent Care clinicians to all other individuals or groups requiring notification.
Routinely monitors client location and condition to insure safe milieu
Accurately conduct insurance verification for clients to insure eligibility for benefit and contact insurance carriers where necessary to help resolve barriers.
Answer routine inquiries, and refer calls not requiring dispatches to appropriate departments and agencies.
Assist clinicians with arranging disposition of cases (i.e. locating beds, making referrals, arranging transportation [cab or ambulance], etc)
Accurately record details of calls, dispatches, and messages.
Assist in the orienting and procedural training of new staff.
Assist with the client admission process by completing all documentation accurately.
Searches all client belongings for contraband and conducts drug screens according to program policy.
Perform other related job duties as assigned by the Program Director or designee.

Grade 6: Residential Counselor II:Requires a Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the field of psychology or human services
2 years of related experience preferred.
Must be able to Multi-task
