Assistant Director for Football Career Development

Pay Grade 40

Provide comprehensive career and professional development programming to football student-athletes. Position also serves as a department liaison that works with former football student-athletes and VFL (Vol For Life) program.

Provide personal transition programming to football student-athletes
- Prepare for identity transition from football player to a successful career beyond sport
- Positive coping strategies
- Prepare football student-athletes for healthy lifestyles beyond sport

Graduate School preparation and development
- Identify post-graduate scholarships and awards and prepare nominations for football student-athletes interested in graduate school opportunities
- Assist in preparation and completion of graduate school applications
- Provide graduate school entrance exam preparation (GRE, GMAT, MCAT)

Provide professional development programming to football student-athletes
- Assist in resume development and upkeep
- Prepare football student-athletes for the job search process
- Conduct mock interviews
- Coordinate and organize career fair and networking events
- Coordinate dining etiquette workshops

VFL (Vol For Life) Program
-engagement and cultivation of VFL Lettermen for participation in VFL programs. (networking, mentoring, employment opportunities for current student-athletes)
-work with Athletics Marketing/Fan Experience unit on VFL branding initiatives & public appearances
-Recruit and develop relationships with companies to participate in VFL programs

Coordinate and track career placement for football student-athletes
- Identify opportunities and coordinate internship and job shadow experiences
- Connect football student-athletes with companies looking to hire UT student-athletes specifically
- Track and monitor job placement statistics
- Create communication materials related to job placement rates, industry categories, etc.
- Stay in contact with former football student-athletes as a liaison to the athletic department (VFL Program)

Recruiting
- Be available for football recruiting weekends and visits
- Visit with families about Tennessee football's commitment to holistic student-athlete development, including career preparation, career placement, and professional development programming for student-athletes

Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

3-5 years working within educational setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Should be passionate about holistic student-athlete development. Should have knowledge about the student-athlete experience, either as a former football student-athlete or with experience working with a student-athlete population. Should have a welcoming and caring demeanor, allowing for personal connections with student-athletes. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to communicate and connect with coaches, administrators, and campus partners. Should be professional and able to represent Tennessee Athletics in corporate settings.
