Job Description Summary

Bank of the West is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master to oversee the application of project management methodology during all phases of the project cycle, with responsibilities that include project design, scope management, cost control, quality and performance reporting.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, track and manage project budget, project plans, timelines and scope Manage project resources including procuring project staff, developing, motivating, coaching and advising.
  • Partner closely with other members of functional project teams to define business requirements.
  • Lead teams of developers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs.
  • Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized.
  • Make presentations to steering committees or project sponsors.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • People management and team building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization.
  • Strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions.
  • Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment.

Qualifications

Required Experience
Requires mastery level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have deep knowledge of project management.
Requires 10 years minimum prior relevant experience.

Education
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MIS, MBA or other related advanced degree preferred
8-10 years relevant experience minimum. Minimum: 3 year as Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master. Agile/Scrum Certifications a plus.

  • Oversees and manages project teams, which consists of members reporting to functional managers within the Business Group, third party vendors, and consultants. Provides leadership, motivation and establishes a teamwork environment for the project team, and advises, influences, and coaches team members in the development and achievement of project goals.
  • Facilitates and leads team meetings.
  • Monitors project progress towards project goals, coaches and motivates team members to make needed adjustments in plans to meet milestones and to achieve goals. Facilitates and documents lessons learned on projects to use on future projects. Recognizes team members for meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Recognizes project issues and concerns requiring resolution in a timely and professional manner and addresses them with management and appropriate staff members.
  • Prepares documentation defining policies to be established with management's approval, providing supporting documentation and specifications as needed.
  • Schedules and conduct status meetings with involved staff and management, to ensure timely completion of project tasks and addressing and resolving problems that could prevent timely completion of the project.
  • Prepares, provides and communicates progress reports on project status for staff and management review
