The Senior Software Developer works collaboratively with end users to develop reporting systems that provide accessible information for decision-making. The Senior Software Developer uses the data platform and associated databases to solve organizational problems through reports, analysis, and data visualization. The Senior Software Developer will also provide data warehouse expertise with an emphasis on data design, access, usage, security, and quality of information assets.
This position is required to be in Jacksonville office 3 days a week. Must be willing to relocate if not local to Jacksonville, Florida area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop technical requirements, deployment documents, and other supporting mechanisms for soliciting and documenting business requirements
- Design, develop, and manage reporting catalogs, including comparing new requests against existing inventory and making recommendations for adding or removing content
- Integrate identified strategies across multiple reporting programs/projects and ensure alignment with business strategies and management priorities
- Assist in aligning reporting initiatives with the Enterprise Architecture
- Facilitate the inclusion of multiple disparate data sources located in the data platform/data warehouse into the overall reporting framework
- Provide specialist architectural ownership, governance control, and solution management across all reporting initiatives
- Collaborate with Principal Solutions Architects to ensure the data platform design/process is optimally aligned with reporting tool(s) for best performance and to enhance the ‘end-user experience’
- Work collaboratively on project teams, systems and data analysis, design, development, integration, and enhancement activities, as well as related maintenance and more complex production support
- Assist and develop the project scope of multiple complex projects with assistance from the project team and serves as a project point of contact when necessary
- Participate in functional, technical, and user acceptance testing efforts and resolve identified defects
- Build and modify database tables and views and optimize SQL queries, indexes
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of reporting best practices and standards
- Monitor and triage report development request queue tickets
- Review reporting requests, release plans, and enhancement requests for impact and prioritization
- Build effective partnerships with coworkers and coordinate overall efforts to contribute to the team, department, and organizational objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or commensurate years related work experience
- 4+ years in business intelligence, developing/managing reports and data sources
- Demonstrated knowledge of developing a reporting architecture, dashboards, and portals with Power BI
- Demonstrated detailed knowledge of business intelligence security and administration concepts with Power BI
- Demonstrated detailed knowledge of Power BI technology & understanding of the Microsoft BI stack
- Demonstrated knowledge of proficiency in advanced-level computations on Power BI datasets
- Demonstrated knowledge of familiarity with MS SQL Server BI Stack tools and technologies such as SSRS, TSQL, Power Query, MDX & DAX
- Ability to articulate a road map from current reporting & analytics footprint to a futuristic model with clear trigger points identified
- Experience with writing and optimizing SQL
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills, clearly and accurately communicating complex and/or technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience and understanding of multiple programming languages and systems, as well as data design and project management methodologies.
- Experience customizing BI portals in Power BI
- Experience installing, upgrading, and configuring Power BI across multiple servers or cloud platforms
- Knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts and tools
- Self-motivated; able to work within a project-based environment
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of Data Warehousing experience
- Experience and knowledge in at least one area of the business, such as sales, manufacturing, planning, etc.
