Job title: Project Design Engineer (Architectural Sales)

Reports To: V.P. of Sales

SUMMARY

Manages relationships with an assigned list of accounts that include architectural firms, school districts, and other direct customers.

The Project Design Engineer works in tandem with the Business Development (sales team) and Project Estimators/ Installation Services Team.

The Project Design Engineer provides consultative design assistance to their assigned accounts working from project conception through specification to project bidding. In addition, the Project Design Engineer must manage and coordinate administrative and account management (sales) activity and uncover new projects from established customer base in order to maintain continue market growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provides consultative design services (i.e. light calculations, product layout, write project specifications, etc.)

· Maintain an “exceeds expectations” level of customer service within assigned account base

· Responsible for managing sales and administration activity for projects from project design conception through completion

· Effectively asks for new business to ensure continual growth within assigned customer base

· Able to present material to and influence groups of people ranging from one-on-one consultations to large groups of people

· Creates a memorable and positive experience with client base

· Works with Business Development Managers. Assumes responsibility of project accounts at the qualified prospect stage

· Ensures management of all aspects new accounts, including but not limited to:

a) opportunity identification (Bid Date, project details)

b) pre-sales planning (Bid Strategy)

c) deal execution results and awarded construction manager details

d) post installation quality assurance review with Installation Services and Construction Manager

· Manages assigned accounts and current projects (I.E. Architect Firms, Schools, Customers, etc.)

· Resolve sales administration, delivery or installation problems which may require travel to job-site

· Proved budgetary quotes as projects advance in the sales cycle

· Develop and Document all account activity in Salesforce.com

· Continually follow up and revise if necessary plans/spec/product and facilitate transfer to estimator/project manager

· Uncover and identify future opportunities within established list of accounts

· Represents Company and products at trade shows and seminars

· Directs and participates in ongoing safety training

· Communicates effectively with peers, subordinates, corporate officers and external contacts

· Completes accurately and in a timely manner all reports as required by the Company

· Attends meetings and classes as required

· Performs all duties safely

· Performs all related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in business, marketing, architecture or related design discipline. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in sales and marketing in the architectural specification and design space, with a focus on Commercial Construction. Must have experience working with architects and specifiers.
  • Must possess strong understanding of construction documents and construction process. Applicant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and be able to accurately complete complex mathematical equations.
  • Computer competency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database. Must have experience working in Salesforce.com.
  • Presentation software helpful. Salesmanship skills. Ability to analyze and prioritize. Ability to multitask. Able to demonstrate a keen sense of design. Able to influence people to agree to buy and must be able to ask for the sale. Ability to visualize. Team leadership skills. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 to $110,000.00 /year
