The Sr. SW Engineer will design and develop new and modified features and implement algorithms and machine learning infrastructure into software applications for our Security Systems SW releases. He/she will also develop and integrate algorithms and associated features into legacy systems using identified development tools and technologies.
The Sr. SW Engineer will participate in design, development, documentation, unit testing and debugging scientific applications software that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Collaborates with other SW Engineers and Scientific and Algorithm scientists, equipment engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of product and internal tools software. Ensures software standards are met.
Plans and documents functional modules as part of overall system design.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or total project of moderate scope.
Studies the operation of systems, selects major components to meet functional and operational requirements, and determines the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing and/or service standpoint.
Performs original complex analysis and design work of systems and component parts in accordance with specifications. Reviews and evaluates designs executed by others to satisfy product/program requirements.
Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
May provide technical direction and coordination over the work of lower level engineers.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
BS, MS or MSCS in Computer Science related field.
Min. 4 Years total work experience, preferably with responsibility for successful SW develop as part of a product.
Qualifications and Skills:
Demonstrated ability to deliver to SW requirements and specifications. Working knowledge with examples of code responsibility in areas include:
Expert Level C++ with Object Oriented Design (OOA and OOD)
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008- development system;
C# / XML Development
Designing, coding, and debugging applications in various languages.
Familiar with GUI development
Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good working knowledge of principles and practice of Software Development.
Excellent analytical skills required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
United States Citizenship Required
Data and image processing along with GUI development in a real-time embedded system.
The successful candidate will be based in the Electronic Systems business unit, in the Woburn,MA area. A competitive market-based compensation package, commensurate with the responsibilities and experience requirements will be provided.
