Tectonic is actively seeking an experienced, full-time Office Engineer for an upcoming long-term, multi-billion dollar renovation/upgrade at JFK International Airport.

Essential functions of the Office Engineer position include the review of inspector’s daily reports for accuracy, the preparation and maintenance of monthly estimate and material certification books using Site Manager, CEES, APPIA, or other applicable software, the preparation of change orders as needed, submittal tracking, maintenance of project files and documentation, and the preparation of meeting minutes and job-related correspondence. The Office Engineer will work under the Resident Engineer’s guidance and ensure successful execution, completion, and close-out of the project, as well as all related duties as required.
Valid NICET Level III or IV certification in Transportation/Highway Construction or a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering;
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
The ability to review Inspector’s Daily Reports for accuracy of various work elements on projects involving highways, bridges, and other relevant work;
Familiarity with the Manual for Uniform Recordkeeping (MURK) and Site Manager, and Computerized Engineers Estimate System (CEES) or APPIA; NYSDOT recordkeeping experience preferred;
Excellent organization, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills;
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn project specific software as needed;
May require a valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites as needed.
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee is also occasionally required to move around on project sites and within buildings and other structures, including ascending or descending the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, frequently for prolonged periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 lbs. The employee is occasionally working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, and precipitation. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients utilizing Corporate and client e-mail and telephone systems. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and fax machines. This position also may require the occasional operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
