Day to day activities may include but are not limited to the following:
Provide in-depth nutrition science technical expertise for pre-clinical and feasibility clinical research. Translate complex science and research into compelling product propositions. Communicate/translate for multiple audiences to grow the global nutrition business though novel, disruptive innovations.
Conceive multiple pre-clinical and feasibility clinical innovation projects, identify and then design with external principle investigator to test the efficacy of novel technologies.
Report/translate the results to internal and external customers including R&D at all levels, marketing, and external customers such as physicians. Present findings at scientific conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Manage internal and external relationships with key strategic scientific partners and key opinion leaders to support the innovation research portfolio and deliver against global R&D strategy.
Build on, and extend, the scientific value of the existing pipeline through independent thought culminating in novel and disruptive innovation.
Exemplify persistence in both science and translation activities. Strong work ethic required.
Establish and build internal and external scientific network based on a strong scientific acumen.
Represent the Discovery team by serving as technical consultant in cross-functional meetings.
Conceive of, and pursue research-driven Intellectual Property.
Build proficiency in a broad array of relevant nutrient/technologies and outcome measures.
Provide scientific support related to innovations in support of Scientific and Medical Affairs in their interactions with marketing, sales training, international affiliates, and field sales force.
Remain current on the latest research in fields that are key to the relevant research pipeline and when relevant, interact with key researchers.
Learn business by establishing knowledge of competitive products, public domain research, benefits and how these relate to the research pipeline
Attend key conferences or meetings for expanded research opportunities as well as networking with key opinion leaders and other professionals in the field
Independent thought, disruptive scientific skill, entrepreneurial strength, persistence strongly desired
Strong collaborative, research leadership, and communication (written and verbal) skills required
Proven ability to work on own initiative and in a team environment required
Ability to work constructively, decisively and collegially with external and internal customers, consumers and key opinion leaders required
Strong oral presentation skills required
Minimum of 3 years’ industry, clinical and/or academic experience that blends science and business preferred
Bachelors Required, PhD/RD strongly preferred.
