Job Overview:
NRS is expanding its operations to adjust to our growth. The Human Resource (HR) Business Partner is integral in carrying out a variety of functions, supporting various HR functions across multiple locations in the field. This role involves support of employee relations, change management, training, compensation, payroll administration, and recruitment. The HRBP will have regional responsibilities across
Inland Empire (Perris, Ontario, San Bernardino, and Fontana).
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provides solutions regarding: HR needs, such as, compensation and incentive plans, new hire orientation, recruiting, performance appraisal systems, employee relations, employee handbooks, job descriptions, local and country compliance, management and employee training, policy development, etc.
· Evaluates client needs and effectively establishes, maintains, builds and manages client relationships to support our clients’ business strategies.
· Maintains employee personnel files and HRIS system records in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
· Supports hiring needs including posting jobs, screening and hiring candidates.
· Communicates company policies and supports leadership’s enforcement of these policies.
· Manages and collaborates in the resolution of employee relations issues and conducts investigations as necessary.
· Working with direction from higher level Human Resource management, may research, employment laws, human resources policies, and communicate the information effectively to the client.
· Creates and supports employee engagement activities while staying within budget.
· Supports company Open Enrollment period to ensure smooth processing.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Provides support and coaching to managers on employee-related issues.
· Delivers support, including driving the annual performance management cycle and providing tactical and operational guidance and coaching to leaders on all employee matters.
· Acts as first point of contact for an assigned group of leaders with employee related Issues Including, but not limited to: performance, harassment, wage & hour concerns, leaves of absence, injuries, onboarding, terminations, attendance, Investigations, and disciplinary actions.
· Assists with the implementation of department and company goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Manage company-wide performance management process, including Performance Improvement Plans and corrective actions.
· Conducts employee investigations: gather witness statements, make recommendations regarding next steps.
· Assists with company-wide harassment and leader/employee development training programs.
· Occasional travel to visit additional sites as appropriate to conduct training, investigations, engagement activities, etc.
· Ensures compliance with various state and federal wage/hour laws, signage, postings, etc.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field
· Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as an HR Business Partner with at least 1 year in the field.
· Transportation or logistics industry preferred in the field. Warehouse and terminal experience is preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (UKG experience preferred)
· HR Professional Certification (preferred)
· OSHA trained highly desired.
· Bilingual: Spanish speaking a plus.
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
· Knowledge of local HR laws and regulations
· Strong business acumen and ability to adapt to change
· Willingness to travel 25% of the time
Physical Demands:
· This position may require travel to various company locations on the East and West Coast.
· Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate Computer Skills:
· Extended Sitting: Primarily desk-based with prolonged computer use.
· Computer Use: Frequent operation of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
· Eye Strain and Repetitive Motion: Risk from continuous screen use and repetitive tasks like typing.
· Office Navigation: Light walking and standing for meetings and tasks within the office.
· Light Lifting: Occasional handling of objects up to 20 pounds.
