Posting Job Description
The position provides support on legal matters in the form of research, drafting legal and business communications, filing preparations and management of files, databases and reports as required. In addition, the position will provide administrative support for lawyers in the WarnerMedia corporate legal department.
Conduct preliminary and varied legal and factual research in the law library and in computerized databases.
Under supervision of an attorney, Executive Director or more experienced paralegals, as appropriate, prepare:
Administrative duties including:
- Information and analyze data for review, including providing preliminary legal opinions where applicable.
- Drafts of various forms, documents and filings, and maintain and update internal databases and routine reports.
- Proofread and edit documents.
copying, maintaining and updating files, creating binders, tracking deadlines and schedules, and maintaining calendars (scheduling and organize meetings), arranging travel and accommodations for business trips, completing expense reports consistent with company policies.
Other duties as may be required by the business.
Minimum of two years of experience in a law firm or equivalent experience in a corporate legal department.
Comprehensive understanding of ethical responsibilities.
Knowledge and application of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a Securities Paralegal.
Critical thinker with strong written and verbal communications skills.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
History of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies and stakeholders.
Ability to give guidance and training to less-experienced staff as appropriate.
NYS Notary public preferred.
Litigation / Compliance Specific Experience:
Manage records and data retention policies, including administering and tracking legal holds.
Manage service of process.
Drafting correspondence and other documents.
Conducting document reviews and preparing documents for production.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Working knowledge and proficiency in skills required for law library and computerized legal research (e.g. Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, Romeo & Dye Section 16 service, internet databases).
Working knowledge and proficiency using software to maintain and track legal entity history and relationships.
Working knowledge and proficiency in iManage or equivalent document management application.
Paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience.
BA/BS Degree preferred.
