The U.S. Army's Chemical Materials Activity (CMA) is the world leader in programs to store, treat, and dispose of chemical weapons safely and effectively. The activity developed and used technologies to safely store and eliminate chemical weapons at seven stockpile sites while protecting the public, its workers and the environment.
As the Director of the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Activity (CMA), you will be responsible for centralized management oversight, direction, and execution of operational functions for the Department of Defense Chemical Weapons Storage Program, Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, and Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty Implementation Program. Manage and execute multi-year resources planning for budgets, personnel, supplies, etc. Serve as the Army executing agent for the United States Chemical Weapons Storage Program, Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, and Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty implementation Program. Responsible for providing executive level leadership in policy formulation and interpretation, program planning and direction, and resource management. Participate in program planning, integration, direction and execution of all mission and oversight of the destruction operations Provide coordination with multiple agencies to execute projects and report on progress to senior officials both inside and outside the agency. Through subordinate project directors/deputies and CMA staff, direct line and staff activities of multiple professional, technical and administrative personnel. Develop programmatic metrics to facilitate the full integration of operations in order to support reports and prepare annual program review and evaluation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In order to qualify you must have one year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Directing multiple activities in a complex organization with a diverse mission ; 2) Providing guidance and advice as a subject matter expert in chemical weapons systems and/or demilitarization AND 3) Managing the resource allocation process, including personnel, funding, supplies, etc., for multiple programs.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Direct deposit of pay is required.
A two year probation period may be required.
A one year supervisory probation period may be required.
