Housing & Human Services Internship

The City of Falls Church Housing and Human Services unit works to build better lives for all members of the Falls Church community through a range of comprehensive services. We are looking for an intern to help support the department’s overall activities.
Falls Church is an independent city six miles from the nation's capital. It is small in area (2.2 square miles) and population (about 16,000). The city is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally-ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.
Specific Duties include:
- Assisting with research, and document design for Housing reports
- Assisting with research and writing for Housing and Human Services research materials
- Performing outreach for Housing and Human Services programs
- Assist in Department’s client intake documentation
Requirements: The intern must have excellent writing, research and communication skills. The intern should also have experience with document layout and design utilizing computer programs. They must be comfortable working with the public and organizing work to meet specific deadlines. This internship is ideal for students pursuing a master’s degree in social sciences, urban policy, public administration or related degree. The student must be fluent in English.
Hours: Flexible, 15 hours or more per week for a minimum of 6 weeks in the Autumn of 2024.
Salary: $17.85 per hour. This is a temporary position, with no fringe benefits. Training opportunities will be made available. See www.fallschurchva.gov for additional information.
