Ensure the safety of the facility, employees and fans on premises at all times. Provide oversight of the Guest Services, Event Security, Building Security, Emergency Medical Technician, and Salt Lake Police departments to ensure appropriate compliance and coverage for all events.
Duties & Responsibilities
Security & Guest Services:
Direct, manage, develop and communicate departmental procedures for all security and guest services staff.
Approve specifications for procurement of staffing, supplies, equipment and services related to security and guest services.
Perform financial forecasting and budgeting for all expenditures. Manage projects and functions within confines of annual budget.
Update and maintain preventative maintenance on necessary equipment.
Responsible for maintenance of vendor/consultant contracts and relationships.
Manage and motivate a team of security and guest services employees. Work with staff to facilitate a teamwork approach combining expertise and manpower for the completion of projects.
Maintain safety standards for team members by developing and communicating procedures to conform to federal, state and insurance regulations.
Determine and maintain all state and federal licensing, permitting, and requirements.
Coordinate all Emergency Response Procedures and institute best practices relative to Public Safety.
Assist with planning and execution of all events held at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing issues and solving problems and regularly communicating with staff.
Work closely with VP of Utah Jazz Team Security to ensure NBA compliance regarding player security.
Participate in conference calls with NBA Security.
Attend annual NBA Security Conference.
Develop and maintain a working relationship with arena security directors and all other security personnel.
Attend the NBA security briefing prior to the start of all games.
Monitor activity and communication between the fans and players around the bench.
Assist referees on the court with player altercations and instant replay review.

Bachelor's Degree required.
10+ years relevant experience in large scale building operations; security and guest services; Arena or Stadium experience strongly preferred.
Proven knowledge of Public Safety and other Federal Regulations as applicable to the security of a public multi-purpose facility.
Ability to effectively manage the financial and operational aspects of multiple projects and department activities.
Successful track record in managing both multiple operations projects and capital projects a must.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills required.
Exceptional evaluation, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
Ability to anticipate, plan, recommend, implement, and follow-through required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel required.

Position will be required to stand and be on feet for prolonged periods of time.
Occasional lifting of heavier objects up to 35 lbs. necessary when setting up and breaking down.
