SUMMARY: Oversees LHS Study Hall sections and provides support for other Duties relating to LHS students as assigned.Salary Range: $14.45 - $19.81ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)Is punctual at all times to study hall.Ensures students sit in assigned seat. Seats will be assigned by the study hall monitors.Ensures students obtain passes (library, teacher, guidance) before the bell rings to begin study hall.Issues the orange pass as a 5-minute pass for getting a drink at the water fountain or for using the bathroom. Only one student is allowed out of study hall at a time.Ensures that students are supervised at all times.Ensures students stay off personal electronic devices (cell phones, tablets, MP3 players, etc.) unless student(s) are given prior permission to use such devices.Ensures that all school computers and student-issued Chromebook computer use is monitored during study hall. This includes the monitoring of student computer screens and student computer usage/activity.Ensures that one study hall monitor sits in the front of the classroom and the other monitor in the back of the classroom for the purpose of student supervision.
Ensures optimal student supervision by walking around classroom and through student rows several times during each academic block.Ensures adherence to a quiet, working environment. Follows the study hall schedule: First 60 minutes Quiet, individual student work time.Last 20 minutes Quiet talking allowed between students. If students are excessively noisy and uncooperative, this time will be reduced.Ensures students adhere to all LHS school rules. Ensures and models appropriate classroom behavior and respect is expected at all times.
Applies rule violations as follows: First Offense verbal warning (approach student one on one).Second Offense moving student seat; if electronic violation, student must give study hall monitor their electronic device for the remainder of the period.Third Offense Student sent to main office.Operates standard school equipment such as computer, laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.May escort children to and from various rooms.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: As noted above.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Maintain all required MDOE authorizations and CHRC certification.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
