The Commissioning Engineer will test and troubleshoot various systems, equipment, and machinery used on Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) at the LA Metro Commissioning sites. As a Commissioning Engineer, you will support technicians and systems engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support final assembly of LRVs through inspection and rework, and perform testing and commissioning post-delivery.
- Perform dynamic tests and assess data compared to the test criteria and make determination of acceptance.
- Develop Testing & Commissioning Procedures and work instructions.
- Organize and schedule commissioning testing activities.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics to inspect and troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective measurements.
- Extracts and review fault logs from LRVs to take corrective actions.
- Prepare Incident Reports and Failure Analysis Reports (FAR), and review FARs from vendors.
- Confer with engineers, vendors, and other personnel to resolve technical malfunctions.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate technical malfunctions.
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide technical information in a timely manner.
- Support engineering activities including designing tests, equipment setup, and helping troubleshoot sophisticated issues.
- Create drawings of the product using computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
- Special assignment assigned by Managers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering field; Master’s degree a plus.
- 5 years of experience working in rail industry; commissioning and warranty experience in railway preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Great organization, attention to detail and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CAD or related engineering software.
- Basic knowledge of MATLAB and other test applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively to identify solutions effectively.
- Ability to work on variable work schedules.
- Ability to commute to multiple locations as needed.
- Ability to travel to various domestic and international destinations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
