This position will have accounting responsibility for two or more operating wind and/or solar projects and for Pattern’s captive service providers and holding companies. The incumbent will work closely with other accountants within the accounting group based in Houston and San Francisco, as well as individuals from other groups such as finance, legal, asset management, and tax.


Full accounting and general ledger responsibility including preparation of monthly stand alone financial statements for two or more projects.
Read, interpret, and summarize project contracts and loan agreements to assure proper accounting and compliance.
Prepare account analyses and reconciliations on a monthly basis.
Revenue billing and analysis, fixed asset accounting, accounts payable coding for the projects and all other accounting matters relevant to the projects, including preparing and loading all journal entries.
Ensure that monthly, quarterly, year-end, and special project deadlines and requirements are met.
Hands-on use, data entry and navigation of Pattern’s general ledger, and reporting software (currently Dynamics AX). Will need to learn to generate Dynamics reports from all system modules to take full advantage of Dynamics Data.
Assist with quarterly (10Q) and annual (10K) public reporting requirements – primarily focused on compilation of footnotes and applicable disclosures.
SOX 404 compliance duties.
Maintain schedules to support income tax filing requirements.
Set-up and maintain the accounting and permanent files for existing and new projects.
Perform accounting research as needed.
Full responsibility for all internal, investor and lender monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
Full responsibility for completing the year-end audited financial statements for the Projects assigned – preparing PBC items, writing footnotes, preparing the statements and interfacing with the external auditors to ensure the audits are completed on schedule.
Communicate with Pattern domestic offices, third parties and within the SF accounting group to coordinate information gathering and resolve accounting, intercompany and investment activity issues.
Full loan compliance responsibility for the projects assigned – interest and principal payment calculations, prepare debt service coverage calculations and other actions necessary
Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecast updates – cash, income, capital.
Special projects as needed.
Prepare and maintain Excel-based financial reporting files – budgets, actual and forecast and prepare monthly budget variance analysis.
Coordination and payment of investor distributions and ability to respond to investor requests for information.
Educational Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent major required. A CPA license or Canadian Chartered Accountant designation preferred.

Required and Preferred Work Experience

The following criteria will be used as a basis for Pattern to select a qualified applicant:

Minimum of 4-8 years of relevant accounting experience
Accounting experience at a US public company
Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley requirements

The following experience is preferred:
Renewable energy industry experience
Power plant accounting
Consolidation, equity-method accounting with minority interests
Purchase accounting – business combinations
International accounting experience
Additional Requirements

Must possess strengths in the following and be willing to do research as needed:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong "hands on" technical skills with attention to detail.
Strong technical and analytical accounting background and familiarity or experience with complex accounting issues, consolidations, US GAAP and IFRS issues, foreign currency translation, multiple corporate structures, equity and investment accounting.
Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow-through and minimal supervision.
Self-starter with flexibility, desire and eagerness to learn and assume new responsibilities while maintaining ownership of the projects.
Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills. Must be able to meet with and participate in Operations meetings and be well versed in the project contracts in order to contribute to these meetings.
