Whom we are looking for:
The organization is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter who is looking for an opportunity in a rapidly-growing organization. Shields has developed strong relationships with several biopharmaceutical companies and distributes a wide variety of specialty pharmacy products through its hospital partners. Many of these specialty pharmacy products have limited distribution networks and Shields partners with many pharmaceutical companies to manage product distribution requirements and strategic programs to improve health and economic outcomes.

While Shields has extensive access to these limited distribution drugs today, clinical stage development assess and recently approved products will meaningfully shift the mix of marketed specialty pharmaceuticals in the near to medium term. Amidst this change, Shields is looking to demonstrate the value of the hospital-based specialty pharmacies to the biopharmaceutical industry and advocate for its hospitals inclusion in limited distribution networks. Access to these limited distribution products is critical for Shields' hospital partners to ensure they can continue to provide the highest level of integrated care to their chronically ill patients.

What you will do:
The purpose of this job is to support our Trade Relations department to advocate for Shields hospital partners to gain access to commercially available and pipeline biopharmaceutical products that will be distributed through limited distribution channels. This position reports directly to the VP of Trade Relations and is responsible to work cross functionally with key stakeholders in the organization. To effectively achieve this aim, the Strategic Clinical Program Manager must perform the following duties:

Manage specialty drug pipeline and maintain data base, communicate regular updates and summaries, attend conferences to support key areas of business for pipeline products (AASLD, NASH, etc.)
Manage and support development, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure needed for hospital partner(s) drug access to support compliance with manufacturer and FDA requirements including but not limited to ETASU REMS programs, onsite observations and audits
Manage and support development of strategic clinical programs and tools to support Trade Relations strategic initiatives including concept design, manufacturer collaboration, and contracting
Manage manufacturer sponsored third party enhanced clinical programs and studies
Manage and support development of infrastructure and tools to meet business needs of hospital partners to secure limited distribution drug access
Lead and support special projects as assigned to meet organizational goals and initiatives

Given that pharmacies on the Shields platform have access to the pharmacy dispensing system, the EMR and robust data reporting capabilities, the value proposition should be apparent to the biopharmaceutical industry but timing is key. This individual should have an understanding of the process pharmaceutical companies go through to determine the distribution network for a clinical stage asset and understand the key value propositions that channel partners need to demonstrate in order to gain access to limited distribution pharmaceutical products.

Details on the role:
Read copious amounts of analyst reports and industry news to build a perspective on the most promising biopharmaceutical targets
Create and lead development of strategic clinical program concept designs
Oversee compliance with manufacturer contract and regulatory requirements for product access
Augment organizational buy-in from Shields corporate staff and hospital partners on proposed action plans for Trade Relations
Engage with biopharmaceutical companies to build relationships with leaders and clearly articulate the value proposition of a hospital based specialty pharmacy channel
Attend industry conferences, trade shows and seminars to serve as an advocate for Shields and to build brand awareness of the channel
Track and communicate progress against the actions plans and report to VP Trade Relations
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Other duties as assigned

What you need:
Education: A bachelor's degree is required in pharmacy or nursing and MBA is preferred

Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience in Specialty Pharmacy clinical program development and management, drug pipeline management and experience with specialty pharmaceutical products is strongly preferred

Travel: Ability to travel 50%+

Analytical ability to read, analyze and synthesize copious volumes of market analysis to form theses on the biopharmaceutical products with the largest market potential
Creative thinking to devise alternative action plans if a particular approach fails
Confidence to approach pharmaceutical leaders in a variety of formats to pitch the features and benefits of the Shields distribution channel and strategic programs
Advanced Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, Visio) capabilities to effectively communicate complex topics
Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to build collaborative and meaningful relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders (Pharmaceutical leaders, industry consultants, hospital leaders and Shields corporate employees)
Capable of operating with limited direct oversight
Able to execute under pressure and tight timelines
Strong project management skills
