Loss Control Representative (Remote)

Does your work experience include loss control / risk and safety management with a commercial insurance carrier or construction? Do you have familiarity with Worker’s Compensation, commercial auto, farm insurance and/or general liability? As an American National Loss Control Representative, you will work from your home base (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, and upstate New York area(s) preferred ) and travel within an assigned territory to service accounts. You will be responsible for educating and training policyholders, agents, and home office team(s) concerning loss mitigation; Providing detailed action programs and recommendations, while continually building positive and professional relationships, and offering ongoing consultative support.

Responsibilities

Concentrating on company commercial property and casualty business lines including property, general liability, auto and workers compensation

Delivering high quality risk evaluations and loss analysis of prospective or existing policyholders to identify risks, exposures, and controls while reporting results to underwriting

Conduct inspection and risk analysis of renewal and new business accounts

Objectively consider issues and information-Identifying alternatives and implementing solutions to deliver service and provide value

Conduct quality reviews on current vendor loss control reports and assist in the selection of outside loss control vendors to ensure quality loss control services are delivered

Assist vendors in providing loss control materials and services-Aid in interpreting vendor recommendations for both insureds and underwriters

Apply knowledge of negotiating techniques, subject matter, and strategy to obtain commitment, compromise, or settlement that promotes mutual goals

Qualifications

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field such as safety management, insurance and risk management preferred, or equivalent industry experience considered

(3-5) years’ work experience in safety management and/or insurance loss control desired

Have ability to regularly sit, lift, climb ladders, climb stairs, and drive for extended periods of time

General knowledge of the insurance industry: Construction, functions of a loss control department, federal D.O.T. and OSHA regulations and commercial insurance claims handling procedures -Beneficial

Must have the ability to read and interpret insurance company loss runs, along with DOT, OSHA, and NFPA guidelines

Familiarity with valuation systems

Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, with acceptable driving record

Certifications such as CSP, ARM, OHST, AINS, and CDS a plus, but not required

Basic computer skills to produce routine internal and external reports including formation of charts and graphs

Must have the ability to communicate in front of small and large groups to provide safety/loss control related information

Must have strong customer service focus and possess the ability to effectively negotiate and resolve issues

Ability to work independently, effectively plan, and organize work

Ability to travel weekly including some overnights as needed
