Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in Banners drive to provide exceptional customer and patient centered experiences. The Director is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of high value digital services for Banner patients, working with multiple key stakeholders to transform existing services and envision new services. A primary accountability of this position is to lead and transform the MyBanner experience to enhance patient/provider relationships, engagement, and patient satisfaction.

Essential Functions

Leads a team of analysts, designers and other staff to develop digital health services to be delivered through existing and future state patient portals. Creates an innovative, engaging and accountable team culture to drive creative and transformational digital patient solutions in support of Banners customer focused mission and vision. Coaches and develops team members to assure valuable contribution and conduct talent mapping and succession planning.

Primary Accountability for secure web and mobile patient portals, providing governance, guidelines, standards and quantitative metrics measuring the value of those assets. Works to promote the adoption of MyBanner and assure its value to patients in enhancing the patient/provider relationship and driving personal health engagement.

Develops and communicates to the organization a compelling vision of the digital patient experience through MyBanner and otherwise, and create detailed road maps for prioritized execution. Leads in coordinating and organizing many disparate digital patient solutions throughout Banner into an integrated, patient centric experience.

Establishes and maintains trusted and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders of patient facing digital assets including Telehealth, Clinical Innovation, Population Health, Marketing, Clinical Operations, Patient Education, Clinical Informatics, and IT. Drives alignment and common vision of stakeholders around the optimal digital patient experience.

Deploys design thinking, consumer research, usability studies, crowdsourced input, and other approaches to ensure that services provide the highest possible value to patients. Develops specific business cases, models and designs for digital services and engage required partners including IT, Compliance, Legal, and vendor partners to bring those services to fruition.

Provides guidance to the organization on best practices and opportunities for evolving patient portal and digital health engagement solutions. Identifies innovative and valuable solutions in other industries, other healthcare systems and in the vendor community and evaluate them for application to Banners objectives.

Creates and manages department and project budgets, negotiates favorable contract and service terms with vendors and partners, and assure financial discipline in management of Banner resources.

Oversees the development, implementation and consistent application of effective organizational policies and practices. Participates in maintaining an effective internal control environment to ensure that assets are safeguarded, polices and operating procedures are followed, necessary controls are effective and efficient, proper compliance with existing laws and regulations achieved, and operations comply with legal and regulatory parameters in which it operates.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters Degree in Business, Health Administration, Technology or relevant field or equivalent level of experience and education. Strong knowledge of the operations in applicable area(s) of position responsibility, as normally attained through 5+ years of directly related experience. Experience in digital strategy and digital product development, or patient focused innovation, in a large, complex, healthcare enterprise. Proven track record of outcomes and accomplishing organizational goals related to innovative patient focused services. Direct experience with digital implementations is not required, but candidates should have a have a passion for improving the patient experience through digital means. Proven skill and experience and driving vision and strategy and gaining stakeholder participation in a complex, matrixed healthcare environment. Understanding of clinical workflows and patient health information. Demonstrated ability to marry big picture envisioning and strategy with delivery of concrete results. Highly skilled at building trusted relationships with colleagues in various disciplines and the ability to effectively communicate complex strategies that are compelling and engaging.

Depending upon assigned area of responsibility, position may require applicable certifications and/or licensures, including but not limited to: RN; MD or DO; Drivers License; Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA); Certified Protection Professional (CPP); Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Associate in Risk Management (ARM); CPA; SPHR; Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT); Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM); Certified Facility Manager (CFM); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); JD from an American Bar Association accredited school; admission to a State Bar Association.
