Title: System Engineer III
Reports To: Manager or Director of Technology Services
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Perform activities related to the design, build, implementation, and support of the server technology. Recommends plans of action, develop and maintain policies and procedures and protocol changes, and work with team to optimize the utilization of systems. Communicate effectively with department, hospital, and corporate associates. Deliver timely and high quality problem resolution and escalation services and provide solutions for users and requests for information. The senior engineer must possess excellent interpersonal skills, which includes communication (both written and verbal). Project and work approach is team centric, creative, analytical and flexible.
The Senior Systems Engineer will work with other members of the IT Team to ensure implementation success and ongoing stability, availability and performance. The Senior System Engineer will also provide technical leadership for the server engineering team and will contribute to the employee review process. The Server Engineer will participate in the support of all IT infrastructure i.e. PCs, laptops, servers, Operating systems, AD, storage facilities, DR, networking etc. as required
The ability to drive project milestones and productivity for the entire core group. The senior engineer is accountable for technical work produced by the core team. Must possess excellent leadership skills fostering an environment of collaboration.
Supervises the organizations systems technology from a design, implementation and support perspective.
Recommends system capacity planning, strong knowledge on security principles, and system management best practices.
Provides escalated technical knowledge to junior staff on server, SAN, and management technology.
Provides escalated technology troubleshooting experience.
Organizational knowledge of goals and objectives.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Leads research into technology issues and products as required.
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three to five years of direct appropriate work experience, or an appropriate combination of education, certification and experience in a related field from an accredited institution.
Strong knowledge of mainstream Microsoft and SAN technology with detailed knowledge of server OS technologies, MS SQL, and security technology.
Strong server design with disaster recovery and business continuity knowledge.
Travel between all sites is a requirement of the job.
Primary on-call rotation for 24x7x365 support of the system is required.
Substantial demands for visual acuity and sitting.
Considerable demand for analyzing, perception/comprehension, judgment, complex reading and writing, memorization, and decision-making.
It is necessary to attend vendor meetings, training and/or User Group Conferences.
Ability to lead team and complex projects.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
